Hi, I have a 10 yr old female german shepard. She has recently started being sick and eating it, as well as this she is also eating her own poo! :x The vet advised us to change her food, more senior dog food, yet it has made no difference.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Hi

It sounds like your girl is having trouble with digestion, which is perfectly normal at her stage of life. Try splitting her meals into smaller but more regular intervals rather than say a large meal once a day. So the same amount of food spread over 3 to 4 smaller meals. Becasue she is struggling to digest the food she is not getting the nutrition she needs which is prompting her to re-eat the food and her stools. Also you may want to look at the type of food you are giving her. If it is high in wheat content this will be harder for her to digest also, so try to feed her a grain and cereal free product with a higher meat content. Something like the senior version of Acana or Orijen would be ideal. Hope she gets better soon.
