I see this bunch, very much up on leg, unlike some of the earlier photos of dogs you posted, are all grandchildren of three Montague dogs and bitches and Glencoe Model, all bred in England. Their great-grandparents are out of Manorley Merman, Manorley Maori (who was a son of Merman) and Manorley Minting (a son of Maori). Two Shirley dogs, including Shirley pride made up most of the rest of the great grandparents. Clearly this close breeding proved dominant in producing dogs very much of a type that might have been in fashion then, but is no longer so.

Thanks for this photo.

I know what you mean! Some people drink, some people surf the Whippet Archives updating their own pedigree files. You do, and so do I! I'm encouraging Kurt to keep it up!

I don't know where Kurt found that treasure of a book -- I would think it could have real value aside of the fact of its contents because I think it must be rare -- but I love seeing photos of the whippet 90 or 100 years ago and considering the direction of the breed in different nations through the dozen decades since whippets first became a registered breed. It is fascinating!

Hi Lanny, Seraphina and everybody interested,

There's no secret about it! In my last post I put copy's of the front. Certainly in Germany there must be people in the sighthoudworld that still have it!

Each and every whippet picture I now put on TWA and the so beautiful group-photos in my posts.

Now we can start with the articles! Because I'm Flemish I understand German, but sometimes it's difficult. I will (with some help) translate them from German in English as my own language would reach only few peole.

The book counts 122 pages about whippets.

But the whole book counts 832(!) pages. Hundreds of pictures : greyhounds, deerhounds, saluki,... every sighthound

Just an example : Sarona-saluki's!

I bought it on ebay, two years ago for 60American Dollars!
