Rufus and I missed last weeks class as Murphy was in the vets having surgery, so last night I was expecting knightmare Rufus with me but luckily 'imposter Rufus' turned up again, he stayed, he recalled, he walked nicely, he left food when I told him, can't believe we are getting somewhere at last!! luckily we still have a couple of weeks until our test so hope this continues!
Cadac what a horrid thing to happen at training, she doesnt sound very nice!! Glad the class went ok though and Oreo was not put off by the incident.

Rufus and I PASSED our Bronze award!!!!!!!! Yipee I never thought this would happen LOL

Aw good luck with Sadie, Rufus will only down stay, he does not do sit and it took months to get him to stay for 1 minute and even then I can only go 3 steps away from him or he gets up and follows me, he is soooooo easily distracted it was making me totally insane trying to just get him to lie down, but he finally got it!!!
How old is Sadie? Rufus is 2 but as this is all new to him he loses interest at the end of class aswell I think it is because he is tired after concentrating for an hour, probably the same for Sadie, its a very mentally stimulating environment for them. Have to say that I don't think I'm going to ever attempt the Silver Award as a 2 minute stay is never going to happen!!!!!! Going to keep going to class though as it has done Rufus the power of good.

Sadie has just turned 10 months old, so is the baby of the class. I'll plod on for a bit longer. Tbh I'm not too bothered how long it takes to get our bronze. I like going to the class and I think it's good for her to be around lots of other dogs. It tires her out too. Always a bonus

We are doing our Silver tomorrow with one of our two young ones and with their grandma (9 years old). We never in a million years thought Teya (the grandma) would ever pass her bronze let alone be at a level where she could potentially get her silver - she has confidence issues sometimes. But here we are. Whether she does or not we're so proud of her.

We've just had our first class! We had to sit in the corner for most of it until she calmed down but she was allowed to join in at the end when she was a bit better! We're just grateful someone let us attend as when I contacted other places, I was told she would be too disruptive for the class. Yep, our dog that needs training wasn't allowed to training class because she's not trained! Anyway our first good citizen class has been achieved and so has our first agility class!
That's great news! As she gets used to the environment and the routine of going she'll calm down. I remember my first session with Sadie. I think I'd left her at home and had taken a kangaroo instead. She never stopped leaping around.
I keep saying I'm going to take Sadie to agility, but still haven't done anything about it yet. I really must get onto it. You've inspired me!

The agility class we go to now is part of the rescue centre that do the good citizen award so they are used to nervous dogs as well. There is another centre for agility near us but that's all they do and they wouldn't take her as they said she's too disruptive and not trained enough. We were lucky to find one that sees it as part of her socialisation training as well she loved it so it should help to build her confidence! Maybe in the future she can join the agility for good dogs! Go for it, I'm not sure whether we enjoyed sit more than her but it was also good for us as a couple to be there together, really good fun for just a fiver!
