My sister has had a terrible experience with her first dog :( They adopted a wonderful lab bitch from a local rescue (and supposed friend of mine) and after owning Honey for only 3 months she had to be pts :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

She had bitten her previous family and very quickly showed signs of strange behaviour with my sister which culminated in her last week of life with her becomming very aggressive everytime she woke up. Poor Honey had a brain tumour. We were not told about her biting or behaviour problems when we took her on which I think is unforgiveable :( Having said that we are all pleased that Honey spent the last 3 months of her life in a loving home with nice walks and sleeping infront of the fire, rather than in kennels.

So, having let 4 weeks go by, my sister still misses her terribly and is looking for a labrador type as a companion. If anyone knows of such a person looking for a forever home please pm me.

Would have to be good with other dogs as Honey spent Wednesdays and Fridays with us as Debbie works longer hours on those days.

RIP Honey Labramonster - you are much loved and missed :(

has she tried lab rescue? i am certain they are very good in placements? many areas have own co-ordinators?

sorry to hear the other had to be pts thats very sad :( i hope your sister is ok :huggles:

what about a totally different type im certain i saw a message of a terrier type whom is deaf wanting a good home? think it was parksie who started the thread?

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's last dog :(

I don't know if she would consider a slightly older dog, the Oldies Club have George who is a lab x lurcher. He's 8 years old, but absolutely full of beans and acts more like a two-year-old.

I met him and his current fosterer on a walk today - there were about 25 dogs running round, with George having the time of his life right in the middle of all of them and behaving beautifully. He has brilliant recall, loves everybody and is a complete cuddle-monster at home. As you might guess I was very taken with him :- "

He's currently in foster in Newport, S Wales. His details are here: http://www.oldies.org.uk/?p=3183

We have dealings with the prison services that try the "right" kind of dogs for drug and bomb work .......They are only allowed lab, springer, collie types as they have to be non guard type breeds .....Most never make it, but would make a blinding pet  .....I'll have a word with Paul ;)

Thanks Hannah - she doesnt want a collie tho, and I couldnt cope with a springer 2 days a week!

bless honey-lab

she was a lovely girl,

R.I.P honey-lab runfree,

Thanks Hannah 8)

Deb is also very interested in George (from Fee Fee's link above) but it will be after christmas before she can do anything now.
