Leon and Picco have both had quite gooey watery eyes for the last couple of days :(

In the mornings there's quite a bit of green/yellow discharge in the corner of their eyes  which is soon wiped off on the carpet by sliding their heads along the floor which probably doesn't help

The only thing we can think it is  is them running through the very long grass in the fields and they've managed to get grass seed in their eyes

It looks like its clearing up now as they were a lot better this morning  but it would be nice to know what caused it, anyone else had problems with long grass  or are we barking up the wrong tree

Cheers

Steve

I have had dogs who were affected like that in the past. Just cleaned the eyes with clean water and a clean tissue for each eyes, stop cross contamination.

Do not worry too much - dogs will be dogs!!

Mine would wipe it anything, sofa, chairs, beds etc etc :x :x

Two of my Whips are allergic to some grass types it makes there eyes swell up and weep lots, sounds like the same type of thing. We don't let ours run in certain places now.

My last whippet used to get a lot of grass seeds in his eyes, but be careful its not conjunctivitus (sorry about spelling) but yes if you bathe them make sure you dont use the same peice of gauze on the other eye. Golden eye ointment is very good too.

I'd be inclined to get it checked out in case it is conjunctivitis and get the proper cream for it. Are their eyes red and irritated? Is the gloop green? If it's green it's definitely an infection.

Thanks everyone  Picco's eye has now cleared up completely but he did get it a day earlier than Leon

Leons eye is looking quite sore still and is red around the edges :( It seems to be the normal goo they sometimes have in their eyes in the morning just lots more of it :b

If Leons isn't looking any better by the morning I'll get it checked out

Thanks Again

Steve

Try bathing their eyes in cold tea, minus the milk & sugar :D of course. It's a natural anti-inflammatory. Mine find it quite soothing & seem to like it sometimes. Just a thought before taking them to the vet. It wont hurt & it might work & save you some dough.

Am no expert, but do you think it could be a type of hay fever reaction, as I dont think I suffer from it badly, but have had very 'clogged' up eyes recently :(
