For a trial I’ve removed the banner ads and replaced them with 'Google Ads'. The number of ads available is much greater and cover a much wider range - hopefully there’s something of interest to everyone.

The ads placed are (should be) relevant to the page content, so sometimes they are quite good - Dog Beds, Kennels, Collars etc (General Discussion Whippets) sometimes less relevant (Chit Chat Zone ??? ) - but hopefully still of some interest.

A few pennies are added to our ‘Google account’ each time an ad is clicked on - so within a month or 2 I might be able to buy a pint .

I've changed the placement of the Google Ads.

The ads shown try to have relevancy to the page content and are therefore most useful in pages showing your posts. When the ads were at the at the top of the page you only really saw them on ‘Index pages’ when their content wasn’t that relevant and the ads were often repeated.

I’ve moved the ads to the bottom of ‘Post View’ pages were hopefully they will be more relevant and more useful.

I've been taxing my brain and trying to get with grips with Javascript...

You should now have Google Ads at the top of the page for 'Index type pages' and at the bottom of the page for 'Post view pages'. The best of both worlds I hope.

It's been tested on IE6 but shouldn't have any problems on other Javascript enabled browsers. If you know different let me know...
