Ok here's the thing, I have been reading lots of puppy threads about the weight of puppies when they were born, now some of you may remember that I thought my dates may have been wrong and that Spry may have still had a week to go when she gave birth well...............the more I think about the more I wonder if I was right the reasons being:

She showed no signs of going off her food

No waters breaking

No drop in temperature

No nesting behaviour

Just bit restless night before then next morning here they are

Also babies were only small(compared to what I have read) varying between just over 5oz up to just over 7oz, don't get me wrong I'm not concerned because they are doing really well and are all healthy, eating well and doing normal puppy stuff but other puppies seem a lot bigger when born

What do you think

I think lucky spry!!!!

Smaller is easier to part with and she did a grand job!!!

Each bitch is different and the body knows when the pups are ready to be born

Like a human over or under they know best!!

Jinx only showed any tendencies an hour before the birth

The 1st,3rd,4th and 5th were between 6oz and 9oz

But the 2nd was 11oz and she had problems getting it out

After that was safely delivered all was plain sailing!!!

So like humans they are all different!!! :huggles:

How heavy was Spryers when she was born? Perhaps they're all going to be tiddlers :D

I just think she knew she'd be in trouble if she didnt have them before I got there so she did it in plenty of time  :huggles:

Don't worry about the weights, some bitches have smaller puppies. I have had lots of puppies under 8oz, and remember birth weight has little or no correlation to final weight. BTW I look for a doubling in weight in the first week.

:luck: :luck: :luck:

Cathie

They are all diff like humans , India was pacing all the day before :( , whereas her mum Fleur , nearly had one when she popped out for a wee  , showing no signs what so ever that they were imminent .

They do however all have to break their waters  maybe you just missed it and shed cleaned it up be for you saw it , they are so clean arnt they .

I remember Buffees breaking on our bed (w00t) shed showed no signs of being in labour either. Didn`t tell OH about it though :- "

and the smallest born dosnt mean it will be the smallest when fully grown either o:)

Usually they do it in the night! My little girl Kym had some and she did it a 1 in the night and she cleaned EVERYTHING up!

Thanks everyone yes thats what I thought Jax or maybe she did it when she went outside for a wee

Bullseye was smallest but he's caught up now :)
