Thanks to you all who helped with Bobby and his night time barking - hope you might have some more advice for us.

For the past week he has been very loose at toilet time - he usually has one squidgy but formed poo which finishes with some looseness then this is followed usually on the same walk in the morning with a very VERY loose poo.

He is fed twice a day on dry food - Burgess Superdog - has occasional munchy sticks and some cheese but other titbits are very rare. He has water down at all times.

So, we just wondered if anyone has any suggestions on how to get him more solid?

He also has ridiculously terrible wind, mainly in the evening but he's not fussy.....

Hope you enjoy feeding back to me on this delightful subject!

Thank you xx

My greys have been a little 'loose' since the hot weather began, so that could be a factor. I have never used Burgess dog food, so could not comment, if the dog is not working just check the protein is under 20%. Burns is a good food for dogs with sensitive tums. Personally I use James Wellbeloved and my dogs do well on it. I do however half the amount suggested and make up the rest with lots of green veg rice and meat. Even with all that veg no wind.

I have a friend whose greyhound had a loose tummy for ages, she spend hundreds on vets, tests and changing food. Until the last vet told her to just feed a quality food and let the dog settle down in its new home and stop changing the food. Needless to say this worked!!.

My greyhound is on Super Greyhound, and we have no poo problems or wind problems, she also has green tripe with it!

we have had a few foster greyhounds here that get the squits from the mulity colouer dog chews. give him time to settle to the food hes on the les changeing the better.

Bio yoghurt in their food is pretty good for wind. You should be alright on Burgess Supadog - they call it supapoo at my local kennels! It's probably down to the recent weird weather, I find my two go all funny with weather changes.

My girl also had this problem when we first got her. It comes back whenever she's upset or stressed. We find she gets on best with Iams for small to medium dogs - for some reason she eats this more happily than the large dog version - but what you're feeding will be just as good. Just give your dog time to settle and everything will be fine. Best to avoid any food or treats with a lot of artificial colour though, that sort of colour is no good to man nor beast. I think greyhounds are very sensitive creatures and easily upset. Good luck.

Hi,

My retired Greyhound poohed over nine edges with Burgess. You may be better getting a food that produces less waste.Mine all eat Royal Canin, the Greyhound is fine on that.Pets at home do some good premium foods, that you feed less of compared to the bulky foods.Hope this helps.

Hi,

Both of mine were both on Burgess Supadog until recently but I've changed my boy onto Burgess's new Greyhound and Lurcher complete food (purple bag) for the same reason.

It's lower in protien and has fish oils etc, and in a not very scientific taste test he chose the new stuff over the Supadog and continues to wolf it down at meal times

He now seems much happier, less runny and gassy, and generally nicer to be around!

I hope you find something that suits your boy soon!
