A couple who allowed their pet greyhound to starve have been banned from keeping dogs for 5 years,also given 1 year condional discharge and were ordered to pay £50.00 costs.

unbelievable. :angry: what kind of message are we sending out to folk who perpetuate cruelty and misery like this.do what you like and youll only get a slap on the wrist :rant:

What do you expect from our wonderful justice system??? when you can knock a child down and kill it and just get a very short custodial sentence!

We are now becoming a world of people who dont want to know about others problems or what is happening in our neighbours homes.Years ago these things did'nt happen or if they did it was'nt as often,because people were more friendly towards one another and had an interest in what was going on around them,and noticed if somehting was up not now! everyone is too busy caught up in their own lives to think twice about anyone else,or if they do get involved in any sort of problems they are now worried that they will end up getting stabbed or worse.

I recently witnessed a group of young boys trying to set fire to a kitten!! and before I stepped in there were several other people who just pretended they did'nt see and walked on past! :angry: and these included two men,I incidently am a female and I was alone,but there was no way that my concience could have let me walk past this and do nothing.

i agree completely with what you say about the society we live in now.people dont want to get involved (too scared half the time)i intervened in a similar situation and the guy who was near me when i spoke to him said i dont want to get involved! :angry: im only 5 ft nothing and id still challenge a bully or anyone i saw hitting a child or a dog.pity that we dont get involved any more as the results are plain for all to see.we blame the world but were all responsible for what goes on we share a collective responsibility

The sad thing is that the ban means very little anyway. There is no central database of 'banned' people that anyone selling or homing a dog can refer to, so nothing to stop them getting another dog unless someone reports them. Even then it's very hard to prove the dog belongs to them and not to another family member.
