I would do a lot of research trying to find the right litter for you, be prepared to wait for the perfect addition to your family. Don't be tempted to go for the first litter that you see advertised.

I have whippets and greyhounds and the main difference I find is its sometimes like having a donkey in the house :- "

Truthfully though my biggest whippet is slightly under 21". William is 31" but its not just the hight difference its also the length William wears a 32" coat. I know Michelle on here has a show greyhound that makes William seem like a pup he towers over him.

Also remember a greyhound puppy will be the same as any other puppy playfull and boistrous(sp) and need plenty of space as they tend to forget they are so big William thinks he can sit on your knee.

Maybe if you wanted a greyhound what about an ex racer some of them are quite young my bitch Button is a lot smaller than William only 26" tall and much smaller built all over. She is a lot calmer than William we had her last year when she was 2 years old still young enough to be playfull and she is loving. She still tries to sit on your knee but is not quite so big.

As rsl22 said look at more than one litter before you make a decision and do think about an ex racer.

thanks 4 the advice :D were gonna wait until the right litter comes along, as my other half still wants another whippet but wants to wait abit until our pups a few months older.

were gonna do what u's said and look at a few litters at the time an find the right 1. :D

We adopted an ex-racing greyhound before we got Sidney and I have to say that suited Jacques to a T

Hi,

I have a Lurcher,2 whippet Greyhounds and a pure Greyhound. The Greyhound gets under my feet a lot less than the others, and is more laid back. The crosses will run all day, whereas, the Greyhound likes a belt about then sleeps all day.I love them all.just depends what size you want really.Good look with whatever you decide.

My first greyhound was a ex-racer she was great. She would sleep most of the day and would happly go for a walk when you were ready. But not in the rain that was a no no. :- " She was a nice size only weaght in round 27kg and would happly share your bed.

Then I got Fleet he is a big lad ( Too some) but he is a show greyhound when he stand right his head is just heigher than my hip and coming in around 45kg. He takes alot more room and no he dose not share my bed as I would not have no way too sleep. I love him to piece. He might be big but he is a big friendly giant how loves to sit on your lap.

Tiggy got on well with whippets and she was a ex racer and Fleet loves them too he will sit with all the whippets a shows.

So you could have one of each :- "

good luck.

Michelle and Fleet

i have a mixs of bother greyhounds and whippet allthough the greyhounds are a lot biger one of my lads is over 32" at the shoulder there much carmer and easer to live with and walk nothing bothers them they dont even get up when someone comes to the door. and alsong as they get there walks sleep the rest of the time. they dont do rain though and even have thin macs for summer showers or its a no go.

the whippets are smaler and take up a lot less room as they allso tend to curle up when asleep where greyhounds streach out and rouch. they are more excitebl and giddly but have slightly more working brains cells than greyhounds and traine easyer in genral. they will mob anyone who comes in to check for treets and cuddles you never know what peoepl have in there pockets

but even a whippe compared to a terrer or spanila say is lade back and quiet. if its an easy life you want then a greyhound is best in genral but saying that our laceys is so well behaved she can leave the greyhounds standing and makes them looks like thugs  ggod luck with whatever you choice is
