Hi there, not sure if im even on the right site here but we have a 1yr old GSD, just found out she needs wheat/gluten free diet due to having the skin problems from it in her food...Also even though we train her ourselves we are looking to join a club..

Just looking for anyone else who has a GSD to be able to chat to or anyone who knows about them well to lend us some pointers really...

Regards

Thanks in advance

Happydevongirl

PS do apologise if im on wrong site x

Hi,

My grandad is the president of The German Shepard Socitey of GB. He is like a god the GSD breedrs/trainers etc.

He wrote a book,

"The complete GSD" by Percy and Nem Elliott. Its is out of print at the moment but ebay might have some copies.

It is well worth a read, it is my bible! :)

Alot of GSD have allergies to food. Best speaking to your vet about it, i think gdad may dip into allergies in teh book, il have a look when get chance.

re - training, is it just basic obedience you want or PPD, agility etc?

Look in your local paper/yellow pages for any clubs etc.

Any advice just ask

Hope all goes well with your dog. :luck:

Hi there,

Wow thanks for that info ...will go hunting on the book this afternoon...She is a great pup just want her a little more trained as i am partly disabled and we need her to be gentle and obedient...She is doing well, just wanted advice if we doing it right and if she should be able to learn more or not..

But thanks for the info great to get a reply so fast....

Will get hubby looking in yellow pages this afternoon, will keep him out of trouble for 10 mins..

Cheers and once again very very grateful thank you very much

Am also a vay vay happy GSD owner- ours is long-haired and just about due for his annual haircut- whereby he'll be transformed from a ten-stone lolloping hairy monster into a five-stone weakling with large ears and an embarassed expression....

:clown:

Hiya, Dont have gsd s but do know changing to Barf diet works brilliantly for allergies. You just have to remember all treats must be natural too. Fish from fish4dogs is what i use. :luck: Jan
