harvey has a little hole in is leg just above his stopper i think he did it on his dew claw but not sure . so of to the vets we went she said she will bandage it and see if it heals if not he will have to have a stich in it which means surgey i take him back on tuesday . so fingers crossed :sweating:

I hope it heals up without needing a stich :luck: :luck:

How big is the hole . ? Id be inclined to let nature do its own healing , just keep it clean . Lavendar on the wound will aid healing and stop him from licking it , with no need for further vets bills :- "

Awww, sorry to hear this. Poor harv  Sure he'll be ok though teena

its not to big jax but we have tired lavender oil and it was healing but then he will knock it or lick it and it just reopens and bleeds like mad  and this has been going on for a while

Hope Harvey's leg heals really quickly, just a note incase he needs a stictch Callie got a similar hole in her chest while out running and needed 2 staples in, they didn't bother her at all and healed up really quickly you'd never know now, of course she felt sorry for herself and milked it for all it was worth but thats normal isn't it

Can't see it requiring a stitch as it looks from pik like a 'stud' injury? Certainly looks more like a puncture wound and it's in an awkward place to nit together without re-opening. I think just keeping it clean and dry as advised will be your best bet.

I, personally, have most wounds sutured (won't have staples) as I think they heal much better and quicker. They don't need 'surgery', per se, just a shot of local anaesthetic (sometimes) depending how big the wound is or where it is located. For something like Harvery's just one or two sutures will pull it together nicely and stop it re-opening all the time which obviously makes the healing process a lot longer.

 thanks everyone i will let you what happens on tuesday fingers crossed it will have healed a bit more by then.

i would be more keen to let vet bandage it- and keep it on for as long as possible, so it heals fully without too much scarring, obviously it may need 'airing' in between re-bandaging so it doesn't turn gooey! x

I always bathe wounds on both of the daogs and myself in salt water!! Works wonders.

Good luck Harvey you poor wee man
