On Look NOrth news tonight.

A greyhound has been handed into Abbey House vets at Morley LEEDS that has possibly been hit by a train.

It has a severe fractured front leg, many puncture wound and other injuries...

The vet practice WILL NOT do any work on this animal unless someone can give them £1000 to pay for the animals vets bill.

Whiltehall animal rescue of Leeds has put out a plea for help on Look North for donations.

If the money cannot be found then the greyhound will be PTS.

Has anyone heard about this????

oh FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  what heartless bas**rds!!!! what about the good ole RSPCA wont they help :- "

I've just phoned Abbey house vets to ask about the greyhound and it is true.

They would not divulge any info to my apart from the name of the man at the rescuse centre and his phone number to make a donation and that the dogs injuries are severe.

I don't think the RSPCA is involved.

The person at the vets wasn't happy about me asking questions.

has no-one then approached the rspca? after all they are always appealing for money etc , here is a classic case??? this is what the funding they do recieve should be going to? the vet practice ought to be ashamed of themselves too!!!  surely its not that hard for them to put out an appeal??? you have managed to do it!!!

I've got the phone numbers for the rescue centre and the web address.

I've had dealings with this vets recently and they charge through the nose, they also have a policy in place where you have to pay for all treatment as it happens or a high rate of interest is added and then if payment still isn't made they send their own debt collectors in to retreve the money.

I'm willing to donate as is my parents but we can't afford alot but if very few others do then the poor animal will be PTS anyway.

wouldnt it be terrible if you posted the number of the vets and lots of k9`rs rang in to complain :- "

It would be a rather big mistype but maybe worth it....

Abbey House vet, also known as the Leeds emergency vets...0113 2525818...ooppppsss

I've crossposted and also seen this on a couple of other sites now. I believe Greyhound Gap are contacting them to see if they can help and the Sighthound Welfare Trust are also offering to help from their emergency fund, as well as individuals making donations.

Just praying that Cassie is able to get the treatment she needs and is able to make a full recovery.

hope cassie is ok and gets the treatment she needs and in time :(

ive heard of abbey house but not had any dealings with them :sweating: .

some vets just make you sick dont they

I would have liked to think that any vet worth their salt wouldn’t think twice about saving this lovely grey. Where has this vets humanity and compassion for animals gone. Admitting that unless someone comes forward with the money he’ll put Cassie to sleep even though theres a good chance of a full recovery is disgusting.

This vet should hang his head in shame.

I've just watched the news and Cassie the greyhound has been a lucky girl.

The money has been raised and she's going to have her surgery in the next couple of days.

Good luck Cassie. :luck:

I had to go to my own vet today to pay yet another bill. I was thinking of this thread when I went in and I just asked, what if.....?

They said that of course they would treat the dog straight away and worry about any bills at a much later date if at all!!

I must admit they have always treated any wildlife I have taken in for free, and have said that if anybody cant pay a bill they treat the animal first and then work out a montly payment if that suits people better.

Faith almost restored for now.. :))

Good luck to Cassie :luck:
