Hello everyone saw your forum advertised on Facebook and loved your logo and tagline and thought I must come and join you :D as I love dogs , talking about dogs , photographs of dogs and meeting like minded souls who don't mind my clothes have loads of fur on them !

My name is Sam and I am the founder of Dogstar Foundation a UK Charity that works soley in Sri Lanka tackling the issues of dog over population and rabies I am back in the UK at the moment taking a break but heading back to Sri Lanka next month to kick off our 2013 sterilisation project. We don't rehome dogs outside Sri Lanka so a large majority of our work is sterilistion programs but we also run a education program for school children.

In the UK before Dogstar I used to volunteer with a lot of UK rescues fostering, home checking and doing transport runs. Don't have a huge ammount of spare time now to do that but I am volunteering this week with the dog section for Crisis at Christmas at a rough sleeper centre in London that allows guests to bring dogs.

Am going to dash off and check out the rest of the board ,

Sam :))

Hello Sam - Welcome to Dog Forum!! :)

Thanks for the intro - I guess with such a busy life you dont have a dog yourself! :)

Hi, and welcome :)

It's great to see charities beginning to acknowledge how important dogs are to people. If only this would extend to those in the process of losing their homes too. Too many people are told they won't be accepted onto a housing list until they get rid of their beloved pet

I have dogs in both UK and Sri Lanka now , in the UK I have a 10 year old rescue lurcher Noah who stays with family when I am away and in Sri Lanka I have numerous dog friends living at Temples and on the street including Milkshake a 5 year old temple dog once described as the naughtiest dog in Sri Lanka by the head monk !

Crisis really understand the human animal bond and want to give rough sleepers the chance to come in to the shelters to access the services and advice available. Hopefully others will follow thier example
