Hello. We had two lovely brother English Springer Spaniels - Holmes and Watson. About two months ago, Watson passed from a sudden illness that no one saw coming. We also have a cat who has been good friends with both boys. I’ve come looking for advice on how to deal with our remaining dog as he had changed.

Welcome to the forum. I'm so sorry for your loss, and hope we can help.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Whenever my dog family has undergone a bereavement, I have used Bach Flower Remedies in one of their water bowls (always have a bowl of ordinary water available too, so they can choose). I haven't personally found Rescue Remedy effective, but there is a remedy specifically for grief. Results aren't instant, but gradual. If it doesn't work, it does no harm.

I am so sorry for your loss too.
Grief for animals, as with people, will have to take it's own time, with support as Hemlock suggests and just patience and love really. It is such a hard one because all we want is for them to feel alright and happy again and he will I'm sure, just in his own time...
