My partner and i are hoping to have a holiday in the new forest in August but as usual we have encountered a problem. we have a Lurcher and terrier a transit van and a Hobby caravan. We are off to Gloucester on the weekend of 1st and 2nd to help Alan Tyers run his show and wanted to continue down to the new forest for the rest of the week. We have tried to find a camp site that will allow us on with the dogs and van etc but to no avail. We would be more than happy to go on a small site as long as it has electric and shower facility. Unfortunatly not many sites within that area seem to like the idea of the van why i do not know , if anyone out there can help with some suggestions or a number of a site that will allow us on then i would appreciate it. Surely we are not the first to encounter this problem , hopefully you dog folk will have the answer.

Cheers

I don't know where you want to stay in the new Forest but i live in a small village near Brockenhurst :)

The caravan and camping club have a few sites around and are happy to have dogs and a transit van it might be worth having a look on their website they allow non members on some sites and most have electric toilets and showers :)

Just had a quick look and their a great site small but right next to a pub but right in the middle of the New Forest its called the Red Shoot friends have stayed here and have had a great time :) red shoot

We encountered the same problem when we had a white van to tow the caravan. I suppose to see a bunch a whippets, a van and caravan - it doesn't look good. We used to book in a campsite, and not mention that we had a van. I would say "is it OK to bring the dogs?" then they would sometimes say "we have a limit of 2 dogs", so I would reply "well we have 5, but they are small and very well behaved" and normally we would get away with it. There are so many campsites in the New Forest, I'm sure you will get fixed up soon - good luck, and enjoy!
