hi and thanks for the advice, now another question, we said there would be many lol millie seems to be bullying our 17yr old whippet/collie she doesnt let her walk around the house not that she does much walking at 17,we have 2 beds for either dog, 1 millies toys live on and the other millie lives on so poor jess has to do with sneaking on when millie is asleep,we have been told to muzzle millie when she starts to bully jess and to lock her away when ever we go out, but we dont like the idea of locking her away its something we have never done and dont want to start, but we need a solution to her bullying jess, many thanks rick jue

When you say bullying is the pup being aggressive or just badgering the old dog to play?

At 17 Jess really deserves some peace and not have a pup bothering her all the time. Personally I would crate-train the pup so she can go in her crate with a kong and some toys when you are out and for some time out when you are home but can't supervise her with the other dog. That way she can still be in the same room but your other dog gets some peace.

It might also be worth putting in a baby gate so you can easily separate them sometimes but they can still see you and each other so neither feels 'shut away'.
