Congratulations to all who did well, especially to Ch. Airescot Brilliant Broomstick, who did a "double" being both the Stockholm and the Helsinki winner! She was also group 2nd in Helsinki.

Tomorrow it will be time for the Helsinki Nordic Winner 2005 with Unto Timonen judging 28 dogs and 29 bitches.

Hi!

I am tired after a long trip to Helsinki from Sweden, but happy at the same time. My Leyanda Miyabi Oh So Sexy won the CC under Unto Timonen and her son Play A While Kometen Kommer won the Res. CC among the dogs!

The two shows were very well organised!!

Can you please explain how come Toad and her son got a CC and Res CC when there were dogs placed higher than them for best bitch/best dog?

The CACIB are the international championship points ... yes?

And the CC is championship points for that country only?

Are best bitch 2, 3 & 4 already champions - it just doesn't say so here? - and came from Champions Class ... and Toad is not a champion in this country and did not compete against them for the CC (like in US?)

Actually not points, but an International CC. To become an Int.Ch. the dog needs four CACIBs in at least three different countries from at least three judges with 12 months between the first and the last CACIB. One of the CACIBs must be won in the dog’s owner’s home country.

And the CC is championship points for that country only?

No points here either, but a CC is a national CC. The dog needs 3 CCs to become a national Ch. (in Finland) + some other regulations about age etc. If the dog is already a Ch. in another country, he needs only one CC in Finland to become also a Fin.Ch.

Yes, they are champions and don't compete for the national CC.

I've realised now why it always throws me ....

To see them written altogether like that makes me think that those awards were all judged at the same time (because I tend to think in the way the CC happens here) and in that case it is hard to picture how the CC can be awarded to something lower down the line ... what I have to tell myself that the CC is judged BEFORE the best dog/bitch placings are made and the CC and Res CC winner come back in to compete with the Champions for Best Dog/Bitch and the CACIB.

Actually,



in Finnish rings dogs compete first in their classes as junior, intermediate, open and so on and gains EXC, VG or G and so on. All 4 which are placed with EXC CAN compete in Best Male or Best Bitch -classes.

Judge gives placements to the 4 best ones, and AFTER that he or she will give in International show Cacib to the best one (first placed) OR if she or he is below 15 mths Cacib goes to the next one if she or he is 15 mths or older and res-cacib goes to the next placed (2nd or so) and also IF Best Male or Best Male is ALLREADY a champion CC goes to 2nd one or to the 3rd placed one or even 4th placed one. (if they are not allready cahampions)

IF ALL in Best Male or Best Bitch -placed 1-4 are champions judge can give CC to best junior, best intermediate, best open... Now this comes a bit hard to explain, if all in Best Male (for example) are champions, CC can go to the best Junior male and NOW there comes also to compete to achieve res-CC the second best juniormale -> so judge can give the res-CC maybe to the second best juniormale in his class -> not to the best open, not to the best intermediate and so on.

what I have to tell myself that the CC is judged BEFORE the best dog/bitch placings are made and the CC and Res CC winner come back in to compete with the Champions for Best Dog/Bitch and the CACIB.

In many other FCI countries it goes approximately like that. In Finland we like the Best Dog and Best Bitch classes so much that we are allowed to use them in our shows . So the judge first places four males in the Best Dog class and four females in the Best Bitch class. Then he may give the best male/female (over 15 months) in the Best Dog/Bitch class the CACIB in international shows. If the BD1/BB1 is too young he may give the CACIB to the BD2/BB2 and so on. The same applies to the resCACIB - the judge may give it to the BD2/BB2 (over 15 months), and if too young, to the BD3/BB3 and so on.

The CCs are being awarded also in the Best Dog / Best Bitch classes. Sometimes it happens that all four placed in the class already are National Champions, then the other class winners (except puppies) will come back to the ring and compete for the CC. After this there is the competition for the resCC and the CC winner will be replaced by the second dog/bitch in his/her class in this competition.
