Hia, im new here , we have 2 dogs, a 15 year old male called Grommit...he is just the best most loving dog in the world, and a 7 month old german shepherd/collie cross bitch..we call her Willow..but she has many other names..mostly ones i cant put on here :) seriously...she is a fab pup, very hard work, but a lovely girl who will be amazing in a year or two..we love our dogs and wanted to be part of a community like this where we could get advice, share stuff we have learnt..and brag about our lovely dogs..there may be alot of bragging..we are very proud parents hahaha, so ...looking forward to getting to know everyone

Welcome raven, its good to hear a dog of 15 still enjoying life, enjoy the site..

Yoohoo Raven, and welcome to DogForum :)

I bet you've got your work cut out with a cross of 2 very intelligent and thoroughly bossy breeds- well done for putting in all of that hard work. I'm a GSD person but collies are one of the breeds that I just wouldn't have, because they need SOOOOOO much exercise and stimulation, even more than a Shepherd.

Ah well, let's hope she's inherited the collie size and the GSD calmness inside the house ;) You know the phrase, a collie boy wants to be your mate but a collie girl wants to be your mother?

Hia, thanks for the welcome..yes you are right she is very hard work. I LOVE all the shepherd type dogs, we had an Anatolian shepherd before Willow. Willow was born the night we lost our beautiful big boy Marley...mum was in the rescue and she is pure GSD so we knew Willow would be at least 50% German shepherd. The rescue thought she was maybe lab mix but as she has grown its very evident she is gsd x collie..i like you would never want to own a collie but here we are with one !. She is very clever, very high energy, but very loving and loyal. Her training has come on in leaps and bounds although she is very independent so things like recal have not been easy , she is also very determined so if she decides she is going to bark at the neighbours through the fence nothing will distract her.we have to go and grab her collar and drag her in.we are working very hard with her and have a fab puppy trainer on board too who has 3 Gsd . She is still young..im sure we will get there. One thing is for sure after we handled a 127lb rescued street dog with fear aggression Willow is a breeze
