Hi everyone

we are new puppy owners here in South Devon. We have an 11 week old Bedlington whippet who’s running us ragged then falling a sleep.
He is our first puppy as we have always previously had adult rescue dogs.Hopefully this forum will prove to be a useful source of information and advice.

I’m intrigued by your comment concerning faint hearted. We have read that although they’re lively as a puppy they’re laid back as an adult with possible “recall” issues, which we would hope to train out of them.

They are fantastic dogs and honestly IME easier to train than most full terriers or whippets, once adolescence is over. I'd have one any time.

Yours looks a gorgeous little rascal.

Awww he is a cutie. Thanks for sharing. Funny I have the same little Blanket for mine.

For me hard work, means at times its non stop, like for me I dont have children so used to having my own free selfish time but now my little pup has come along its a bit of shock lol. At the moment hes at an age, I cant leave him alone and because I live with my mum who has her own dog, I have to plan all the time when I can go out, even just to do shopping and I dont drive so its extra hard. At times I look forward to his naptimes and I feel stressed but when I look at him as he wakes up in his crate or when we are walking and he looks up at me as hes wagging his tail, I think, wow its all really worth it.

Thank you for the photo - he's gorgeous.

I've not had one myself, but the impression I've got is that on the whole, they have the energy of a whippet, mixed in with a very strong prey drive and a terrierish attitude. But maybe that reputation is unjustified
