Think it's great that Highgate are offering something else to us whippet folk  Like Steve do worry that we could come under the same rulings that effect greyhound racing, but think that could be eliminated if there was no bookie (sorry Piglet  ) Also believe that the scratch dogs (36lb and over) should be kept seperate from the little uns,and graded to run with other scratch classes.Biggest problem I can see is talking folk, with a small dog to run it in a race where they've got a much bigger dog coming from behind.Possibly, split them into light, medium and heavyweight before you grade them in,but ofcourse that would depend on the turnout

(w00t) I WOULD CERTAINLY THINK TWICE BEFORE RUNNING MY LIGHTWEIGHTS WITH ANYTHING OVER MIDDLEWEIGHT!

its a great idea and u lot at highgate are brill with all us whippet racers never have we been as well looked after imo

i know what steve means regarding gambling ... but as long as its run independitly bye yourselves without either bwra or fed theres no rules been broken soiunds great  :luck: :luck:

I presume voiding for dogs ''finding too much time'' will be in place?

Yes a red light will be in place same as with greyhound racing and also the whippets would have to be split, as you say small dogs shouldn't run with the large ones. The aim would be to run in similar classes to avoid injury. We wouldn't want the large class trampling and knocking the small whippets all over the track. though we would handicap on times and not weight.

please keep your opinions coming

if any of you are here on saturday maybe we could have a small meeting about it all

some folks will save there dogs for opens . trouble is lots of opens planned, they arent machine. cambois open 36 dogs that was good for a northern open seen down to 18/22 dogs. getting very expensive to run a dog. highgate for us minimum £50 a meeting.

what about club dogs that like a gallop on the bends but are not good enough for open racing???????????

Sounds like a good idea to me, hope i get my trial on a day when the grounds really soft.  di

yes there would be a vet in attendence. Kennelling is a option NOT a rule. Transportantion of dogs is common sense "just do not endanger your animals" there are no rules in transportation. We would like to hold a meeting regarding this matter of jeopardising whippet racing this is something we do not want to do. Our aim was to move forward with whippet racing. We see all the time and devotion put into the whippets that race and think its about time people see what profesionalism there is in the whippet racing. Whippet racing is not a flat cap, ferret group of people and everyone should be able to enjoy the buzz of whippet racing. Our aim is to gather your opinions and bring it forward with your help of course

whats wrong with flat caps :p it might be an idea for summer bend racing,so depressing cold bad weather. but the light night puts a spring back in your step and the light nights folks would enjoy the dogs a look around the bends.whippet bend racing has always been a winter pass time.??????????
