I'm proud to announce I'm going Part-time from work in June  I've also been informed I'm getting 6 weeks leave (w00t) now apart from whippet racing events, I'd like some reccomendations on places for days out / holidays in the U.K.

I'd quite like to work on my photography hobby so I'd be interested in places that are scenic, have interesting architecture or are good for wildlife / nature. If they're dog friendly that's a bonus but not essential as I'd also like some days out with Mum & Dad / Tony / Friends etc :)

Thanks in advance.

Well done on going parttime. I went parttime (if you can call 4 days a week parttime) a few months back, and it's great to get that extra day off. Money's a bit tighter, but I feel happier and less tired all the time .

Places to visit......anywhere in the Hebrides or the Highlands of Scotland.

Some nice places on here in the uk.

I'd be inclined to get a sh*t load of total sunblock for Tony and go off somewhere scorching :sweating: :sweating: :sweating:

PMSL @ Vicky!!!!

I'm the same Nicola, I'm down to 4 days a week too. I used to work 6 day weeks and waiting list initiatives for years to increase my pay but I think whatever your income you'll spend beyond your means anyway.

Must admit I do fancy Scotland, whenever I see piks, the scenery looks amazing. Tony wouldn't have to worry about sunblock either!

I quite fancy a day walking in the Peak District if anyone's up for it? I know me and Vicky couldn't make it last year and I always think about it when we drive over Woodhead pass.

oh nooooooooooo!6 weeks of you AND the dogs!

I think we are about due for another get together, we just need better weather than last time. I'll be up for it if we can arrange something, provided it's not a show weekend.

I work part time too, 24 hours (in theory at least :- " ) a week, spread over 4 days, it's great. :D I get Fridays & weekends free, wonderful.

Dont know if your into camping or caravaning Jac but this place is dog friendly, lots of walks and nature everywhere

Count me in  Fridays/Saturdays are usually good for me. Lyme Park is a great place to meet with dogs, but failing that, same area as last time is good too.

I stayed at Fforest fields about 3 years ago. It's a great site and doggy friendly. We visited the Elan Valley that's nearby and the views over the resevoirs was brilliant. I'd thoroughly recommend it!

If you want somewhere quiet try looking here (where there are no lights )

The Earth at Night

I was surprised (don't know why) that Japan seems the brightest country and India is brighter than I expected.

I went to Cromer at Easter, went all round the Norfolk coast and it was really nice. Have to be careful though as some places are National trust bird reserves, you have to lead the dog.

You also can't beat Beadnell Bay area in Northumberland, Seahouses, Alnmouth etc. Do I detect you have a van/ camp of some sorts? There are great sites up there.

Oh to be part time.....
