I have met Annette Crosbie a couple of times. She came to the Greyhound March last year.urchin said:I sure hope so too. They are the most gorgeous dogs and deserve protection from ruthless people in the sport
- and those good and caring people in Greyhound racing deserve the playing field to be leveled. If responsible people are putting their time and resources into doing the right thing by their retired racers they shouldn't be disadvantaged next to those who just 'dispose' of their 'surplus' inhumanely
and alot of dogs now are owned by syndicates too , esp some of the good dogs . I think they pay about £500.00 per share , not sure wether that incldues all bill s or not or wether its just for 1 year .Rorington said:I have met Annette Crosbie a couple of times. Personally I think that the 'right thing' is for race dog owners to keep their own dogs as pets when they retire. I don't think people should own greyhounds unless they intend to keep them. There isn't an endless supply of homes available to greyhounds and I really don't think it is fair that charities are expected to take these dogs in when their owners no longer have use for them. Much of the good work that takes place now is largely down to volunteers. Without these people I wonder what would happen to the thousands of 'retiring' dogs each year? What would the racing industry do with them all?
