-_- Isn't it a sad life, here's me working my fingers to the bone and all I can hear from my bed is a load of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's coming from BJ. Talk about spoilt!

Anyhow here is the critique from the Horley judging.

Horley Canine Society – Sunday 19th February, 2006

Brrrr what a freezing cold day which definitely affected the majority of Whippets. If the weather had not been so cold I am sure some of the dogs would have produced a different picture both when standing and moving. As I found out at the end of the judging my principle winners are regulars on the coursing scene so their hardiness paid dividends on this day. All exhibits were presented in good condition, all mouths excellent and very sporting exhibitors. The number of short upper arms was a concern, resulting in a lack of front extension when on the move.

Puppy (10, 2a)

1st Anderson’s Woolsocks Red Kite – Fawn/white dog with a pleasing body shape, good lay of shoulder, topline and well balanced. Coped with the conditions better than 2.

2nd Reed & Spooners’ Dejare Ma Petite

3rd Simmons Bosmere Smoke Tree

Junior (4, 1)

1st Willings’ Faracre Feel the Rhythm With Althaea – Silver brindle/white dog with a nice shaped head and good underjaw leading into good length of neck and well placed shoulders. The exhibits in this class were all very close, but the winner demonstrated best movement overall.

2nd Reeds’ Dejare Cobweb – Pleasing body shape, balanced and moved soundly.

3rd Chamberlain & Hillyers’ Just Silver Steel

Graduate (3, 0)

1st Noel-Smiths’ Spiders ‘N Spoons – Fawn/white dog, with a lovely head shape, nice eye, good depth of chest, balanced. Good bend of stifle and well let down hocks, supported by good muscle tone, moved well.

2nd Willings’ Althaea Folk Music

3rd Meads’ Jasbri Seventh Heaven

Post Graduate (5, 0)

1st Andersons’ Shoalingham Senator – Lovely solid fawn dog with decent length of neck, lovely depth of chest, well balanced, moving very freely on a very cold day.

2nd Noel-Smiths’ Jasbri First Night

3rd Thompsons’ Faracre Firedance Among Likiria

Open (6, 1)

1st Meads’ Jasbri The Love Bug – He can love bug me anytime. A lovely fawn dog of good substance and balance with lovely muscle tone as a result of his coursing activities, one I’d definitely have in my kennel. He has a pleasing shape, excellent depth of chest and lay of shoulder with good upper arm, enabling him to move with drive. He took absolutely no notice of the cold conditions and therefore shone in his class, moving like a trooper with good front extension and driving hind movement giving a flowing profile when on the move. No hesitation in giving him BOB, which he followed with G3 out of 14. Not a bad day’s work.

2nd Noel-Smiths’s Peaches ‘N Dreams – Another well constructed Whippet with many of the qualities of 1 but who did not move as freely as 1.

3rd Brown’s Oakbark Mister Spectacular

Thank you Jan, much appreciated

It is really nice that you put in the paragraph to set the scene. It was absolutely freezing, and I think, like you, all of the whippets did well considering we were the nearest ring to the huge doors that were permanently open.

I learnt my lesson at this ground, do not take a 13 month old whippet to the beach for the day and then expect them to walk round perfectly for you at Ardingly (w00t) :b :- " (w00t)

Just wanted to add that it was lovely to see your choice of BOB rewarded by G3

Tracy

p.s. many thanks for not mentioning the fact that my triangle turned into an octagon somehow  :b (w00t)

Okay, I tried to control myself, but it's no good :b

 WAY TO GO "THE HERB"

Thanks Jan, for your glowing comments for my (now big headed) Herbie :D

Thank you also, for omitting the part when you handed him BOB, the cold must have penetrated my brain, I have been taught to shake hands when receiving an award, sadly my education did not include ' make sure your right hand is not supporting your body BEFORE you try to shake hands' my inelegant descent into the Ardingly sand will remain with me!

You should have seen it Wendy, I'm sure that she did it in slow motion so we could all get the full effect (w00t)

There was a round of applause as she was handed the rosette, and then deathly silence as we all watched her go sideways. Although everyone stood completely still we all breathed a huge sigh of relief when she surfaced with a smile on her face

Can't remember the comment from Jan, but Herbie wasn't that impressed, he had managed to remain in a perfect stacked position while she crumpled beside him, and it was he who had done all of the hard work after all (w00t) 8) :- "

edited to say; sorry about all of the "her" and "she" references Bridget!

Oh and I missed it!!! LOL! Sorry Bridget, laughing with you not at you!! LOL!!

Well done everybody!!! Especially Bridget and Herbie and Joy with Spiders 'N' Spoons who is a Ronan baby!!!

Congratulations Bridget and Herbie.

Of course it was a victory roll!

Now here's me, being all nice and ladylike and not ripping the mick out of the BOB winner, just because she was so gobsmacked. I thought she'd passed out and must admit that a rye smile was on my face as she sank to the ground with such a bemused look on her face, as if to say, my god is this woman mad? :sweating:

Glad you found the critique worthwhile to read!
