Just like to point out that  Bluestreak  Bubbley Blonde is co owned , by Cathy Brown and Irene and Dave Straughan , In fact Honey lives with Irene and Dave as do some of Cathys other whippets . I know Cathy wont mind me mentioning this  :huggles: and Im sure you must agree Irene and Dave do a wonderful job of keeping the whippets in tip top condition.
Also like to add that I hope Cathy and Irene are on their way home after breaking down in Kelso      and having to stay not only Sat night but also Sunday

Of course- I should have mentioned Honey's co owners :- "

I know Irene goes to all the shows as well, and her face on winning the CC AND RCC at Crufts with both bitches co-owned with Cathie was a picture!!

SO... Very well done to Cathie, Irene and Dave!

Liz and the Monellis

Thank you for all the congratulations. We are very happy, especially Irene, and even more now we are actually home.

We had a few extra days in Kelso while the crankshaft pulley wheel was replaced! Luckily we broke down in the town, and no I don't have AA or RAC......I just knocked on someone's car window and got him to drive me to a garage that might be open, it wasn't......I got to know some lovely mechanics over the next few hours and one of them kindly looked at the engine Sunday morning. We stayed in two more B and Bs, that made three in total and I am now on intimate terms with many of the good citizens of Kelso, including the lady in the off licence who was very interested in our plight, and the girl who made the coffee in the only internet bar in town (one terminal only), she bought some beads from me, so I did a bit of business too. All the hotel guests fussed over Honey no end. We got the last room in town on Saturday night as it was racing the next day and the town was jammed.

Irene really deserves her champion, she has had whippets for 40 years and is a fabulous person to share them with. We also co-own Belle of the Ball and their Mum Belle Epoque. She has got naughty Folly (Burning Bright )staying at the moment while I go to the USA for a few days for the American hippet Club National

Thanks again for the good wishes and congratulations. ......and the lesson I have learned is "get AA relay if you show dogs".

Cathie

PS. Morag Bolton (vice chair of Scottish hound) was exhorting everyone to write to the secretary about the poor conditions, they are hardly whippet friendly. She feels that this may have some impact upon the committee. Apparantly our designated steward thought that we would be outside, and the judge needed to persuade her otherwise!!

I would just like to add that the Show Manager had a number of stewards call off due to being stuck in various parts of Scotland. The main Whippet steward.called to say he would be late as he was caught up in a snow storm. The other steward( bless her she is in Gordon Setters) thought that the ring would be outside and therefore set everything up outside, where I discovered all the paperwork having trudged up to the main building looking for it.

This caused the delay in starting, as the inside area was not set up when we got there at 8.45am. So all a bit of a bad start.

Personally I feel that a show outside at that time of the year in Scotland is a bit daft, but if they are going to continue with this date they need a much larger Marquee, where a bigger ring can be provided, and perhaps some sort of heating.

I personally have seen a lot of the Whippets there on the day looking 100% better on other days.

Anyway, Maureen and I both returned to the warmer south on Sunday with Virus's

and have both been of work since, I spoke to Maureen yesterday and she said she felt a little better.

Even after all the above Maureen really enjoyed her judging, and like myself felt all you exhibitors were really great putting up with the conditions. Well done everyone(placed or not).

thanks for being a very able steward Pat :huggles:

Ive sent a letter to the HAS as suggested by Morag  I doubt wether it will do any good though :(

I too noticed some dogs really not showing at their best . luckily for me , mine werent among them .

I mean . we paid £20.00 an entry  . just the same amount as for Crufts . and the 2 shows couldnt have been more opposite could they ( at least we could get around at HAS though :- " )

I think its time they went back to Ingliston , saying its too expensive is rubbish as i ve heard that at least one canine society holds its open show there , I know we moved one year because it coincided with a snooker tornament and they had a fall out , but its time they put the exhibitors and their dogs first ( even if its further north )

Hope you and Maureen feel better soon

Unfortunately, Inglston is due to become the new expanded Edinburgh airport in the furture, so its not going to be the solution for HAS :( , surley there must be some sights in Scotland that could hold championship shows indoors ? :) The SECC would be great, but probably to pricey
