I got 2 dogs after 5 weeks one got very bad bloat took him to the vet and was told best thing to do was have him put down, its been about 3 months now now most of the time the other seams alright but some times he dose not seam happy goes off his food still flies about when who wants to go out spends most of his time cuddled up to me, plays with his ball sometimes, could he still be missing his mate and should i get another dog to keep him company or just carry on as i am.

Like us (and other animals) they don't forget, and have to process changed circumstances in their own time. Another dog is not a good idea until this has been done, any more than we would feel better if we went to an old people's Home and selected another parent. Give him time, do the things he likes to do, and he will adjust to his new circumstances in his own time. Sometimes it's grief they feel, sometimes it's uncertainty at the change in his household. And of course you are sad as well, which he will pick up on. You can't rush it or make him feel differently.

don't mind getting a 2nd dog, but what worries me is my dog cuddles up to me if the new one dose the same will the first resent it.
