Seems like an odd question I know but has this word been around for a long time. Anyone know? I have a reason for asking :- "

Wow, even if it was invented by someone, you cannot really copyright a word, can you? Unless it is a registered trademark (which I am guessing it is not?), there really is no way you can restrict the use of a word, is there? I would have thought it would be flattering for anyone inventing a word, if others liked it so much, they started using it themselves.kirislin said:hehehe I asked about this ages ago because we were using it to promote our whippet fun days. Then we got a letter from the secretary of a club telling us we had to stop using it because it was invented by their Editor many years ago. Gee, their editor must be alot older than she looks because I have an article here dated March 31 1894 where the word is in use. Either that or the secretary is an arrogant fool. Linda
