We are on hols on the west coast of Scotland at the moment, of course the whippets are along with us. We have a lovely wee holiday cottage in a small village and are having a great time. Pimms has taken a bit more time to settle than Cas which is unusual, she seems to get more clingy as she gets older. :(

We decided the other night to treat ourselves to dinner out at the local pub, so left the dogs at home with their big bed, safe in the house (or so we thought!)... :(

We had our tea, and were just walking home from the pub when I caught sight of some eyes coming towards us...I said 'oh look- a cat'..and then the cat started wagging and ran towards us....It was Pimms  ! I immediately panicked, as they had been locked in the house...I thought we had been burgled and the burglers had let the dogs out...and Cas was nowhere to be seen....he panicks on his own...

So we sprinted back with Pimms...and found out that the cottage was still locked...with Casper inside..the dogs had been downstairs in their bed by the log stove, with all the windows and doors shut.

Pimms had found her way upstairs to our bedroom and made a nest on the bed...and had clearly got bored of waiting for us so decided to come and find us...

SHE JUMPED OUT OF THE SKYLIGHT...!!!!!!!!!! One floor up, straight down the roof and down into the driveway...

Its a miracle that she was not seriously hurt, she was pretty shaken up but the only physical injury she has is a slight skin on a hind leg. She is a stubborn little mare at the best of times, and clearly felt that her place was with us in the pub rather than at home tucked up in bed!

So she has used up another of her 9 lives....the first being used when she was kicked in the head by a horse and had to be stapled back together at the vets at 10pm on a Friday night..

Oh my  thanks goodness you found her! We're lucky here - Blue and Alfie still have all their lives intact :)

Crumbs, glad she's ok :D And hope she doesn't try it again

Both of my adult whips have used up a life or two

Tyg once tried to jump the gate at the top of the stairs (we can't fit one at the bottom due to an odd twist at the bottom of the staircase) ... he missed and cartwheeled back down again, literally, but luckily bounced off a pile of laundry on it's way to the washing machine that I'd dropped at the bottom five minutes before, so he had a soft landing ... no harm done but it was sooo scary watching him fall :sweating: my heart was in my mouth!

Finn's never done anything quite so spectacular but he did come racing back to me once in the half dark after a winter walk through the fields ... I was waiting by the gate to open it but I think he thought I'd already gone through ... I could see he wasn't slowing and rushed to open the gate but he got to it first ... there was this scary slow motion moment as he realised he was about to run head first into solid wood ... he slammed on the brakes and threw his head right back so his throat kind of slid up the gate, barely touching it ... again no harm done but he was mm away from a major head injury if not worse :sweating: :sweating:

Ella's recently put a 1 cm hole in the front of her throat whilst jumping about in very tall grass (looks like she's had a tracheostomy !) with a scratch on her collar where it must have deflected and saved her from worse injury.

How on earth is she okay,,,She's used up a load of lives :clown:

Robbie once fell down the stairs,,cartwheels and all,,,scared the life out of me. He's also sliped going up,,thought he had broken his knee, but xray was good.

Gizmo has ran into door etc,,but he's been okay also.

They dont half scare us,,do they lol

Worse than kids :clown:

Oh my goodness me!!!

Ben has used a brave few of his... he went and jumped off a 30 foot cliff when he was 5 months old :( thankfully unhurt as was wearing his glow worm coat

wow, i thought staffs were mental, but your whippies win hands down lol

Blaze spotted a Cat, slipped her collar and ran across the road when I car was coming. She hit the side of the car then turned to the same direction of the car and hit it again side on. Don't think the driver even noticed as they never slowed up. It was scary at the time but afterwards you have to laugh, how often to we hear, "Dog hit by car" whereas in Blaze's case it was, "Car hit by dog".

She's also run away a few times when we had bother with local kids thinking it was clever to come and open the gate to let the dogs out into the street (main bus route), when the wind gets up it comes up the side of the house and despite having 7ft wrought iron gates the latch can slip off and the gate blow open (the padlock stays through at all time now).

Luckily at almost 7 she's starting to mellow out a bit, our other girls are rather more laid back and like their home comforts. They all get their share of knocks, bangs and bumps (not least Talli recently being knocked out by a stray dog running across her path, luckily after 2 weeks cage rest she's made a full recovery). I'll never forget the day I came home to see Kerri and Blaze standing on the shed roof !!!
