Off topic Jax, but what the hell is a tea cup chi?!!
chihuahua, see, there is really just one standard for chihuahuas (same as for yorkies and their tea cup trend), with the start of the status symbol trend people who are after these small dogs want them as small as possible and those who breed just for the money are only too happy to oblige, actually risking the bitch's life by breeding - most reputable breeders would never breed from a smaller than standard bitch, if they get such in a litter they'd give them to pet homes for them to then be neutered.

Sort of like a 'hat box' whippet :) :) :)

I think that term was coined after Dalgleish wrote in his book about his whippet that used to leap in the air and arrive perfectly curled up in her hat box bed 8)

Im sure whippets still have a `flat cap`image with some folk , hense , believe it or not , we are one of the cheapest pedigree dogs to buy
That is interesting, but it is not so in other parts of the world. In continental Europe all sighthounds were considered "upper class" breeds, kept by aristocracy and high society ladies. As far as prices go at present, from what i have heard, Whippet pups on continent, at least in some countries, would start at about the 800 pound mark. When i was in Germany in 1993 the basic price for pet pup was 1200 DM = 600GBP.
