Molly has hurt her shoulder muscle while running. I don't think it is anything else as it's worse when she gets up and seems to ease off as she is walking, she isn't whining or fussing about it just limping. I've been massaging the muscle but is there anything else I can do? should she have lead walks, no walks at all or normal walks? At what point do I take her to the vet? My old dog used to pull muscles all the time and I remember using aromatherapy on her but cant remember what oils. Anyone got any advice :D :D

Ella recently pulled her shoulder and was very lame. She even held her foot of the ground when standing for a while.

Time is the only real healer, but if you think that Molly is in pain it will help her to have some meloxicam.

No exercise at all for a couple of days and then only slow lead walks for a week or so until you are very sure that she is on the mend. Rest is the best cure  xx

Funnily enough Finn pulled a shoulder muscle last week. And I can only reiterate what Jane has said, although I also use a good old fashioned muscle embrocation two or three times a day as well. With Finn it is difficult to stop him rough housing with the others so he has been out in the garden on his own. It's taken a week of limited exercise but he went swimming yesterday and is fine now. Hope Molly is soon on the mend xxx

I hope Molly recovers quickly, its horrid when they're not 100%.

Rocky my old boy who is nearly 12 yrs keeps going lame on his front leg, after a number of trips to the vets over the past few months (been sound and then lame different times) I honestly think rest is the best thing, injections and tablets didn't seem to work for Rocky (maybe helped a little) but now he just rests. Some walks he is absolutely fine and other times he comes back lame, its so frustrating and sad to see but rest and then short lead walks (to help them mentally) has worked a treat for Rocky, plus now he seems to be taking things a lot easier, he maybe listening to his body for once!!! I can at least hope lol!!!!!

Hope you find a way that works best for your girlie. :luck:
