Akira is 4 year old Siberian Husky and 2 years ago she was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism.

Has anyone else's dog got this illness?

She was stabilized with 400 mcg Thyforon daily but subsequent to a recent blood test 2 months ago this has been doubled to 800mcg.

She has been getting regular blood tests every 6 months.

She is a big build husky but at 42 kgs is way overweight.

I am concerned about what seems to be a high dosage, but perhaps not?

Can anyone please advise me?

Thanks

I have heard a must-have for an owner of a hypothyroid dog is The Canine Thyroid Epidemic, Answers you need for your Dog by W.Jean Dodds DVM, Diana R. Laverdure.

Dr Dodds is apparently a world leading authority on Canine Thyroid and the book covers everything including diets written in way that's easy to read and understand.
