I have just got a 3 year old KC pedigree whippet. Will the lurcher world shun me now i have a dog with papers. Will i be able to ask the butcher for more money for the rabbits i sell him now they have been caught by a dog with traceable ancestors? Oh what have i done, im all registered and everything. It doesnt feel right. Can i still pretend its of parentage unknown, or must i forever more be respectable and do everything by the book?!

Sorry Wunwin, you must now leave your dubious Gypsy past behind you now you have a KC registard Whippet.

Those nights skulking round the farmers fields at 2am with a lamp must be put well and truely behind you o:) .

you must now start starching your clothes and talking with a plum in your mouth attending Church at least twice a month and cut right back on your drinking and swearing.

Good luck with the new dog

Yep when i moved from lurchers to Greyhounds/Whippets I left all my dubious past and freinds behind me.

I now only associate with good god fearing people (like yourself & Jeff) o:)

Is it a good thing i hear you ask its a GREAT thing you may even meet some new partners in crime :- "

Be alright, should get away with it- ONLY use a length of bailing twine, NEVER a proper lead

What are you saying paula it's all true don't forget it's church next Sunday before we go to the WI for coffee and scones :*

Can we not just miss the church and go straight for the coffee and scones. Mark"s only been to church 3 times the first time all the lights failed the second time the heating went and there was a smell of burning and the third time he was eyeing up the lead on the roof, (w00t) I now go to Kieren"s church days on my own its safer. :(

if you are insuring your dog then definately pretend that its parentage unknown - common old crossbreeds (or carefully-bred, beautiful, functional lurchers) cost less than pedigree pooches

good luck with your posh dog :luck:

Thanks for that dorris, only ever having insured my very accident prone lurch, i wasnt aware of that. Cheers.

not always true - I got a lower quotation for a whippet than for a lurcher

I don't know the ancestry of my "lurcher" and he may be a "longdog" (only sighthounds in the mix) rather than the lurcher. It was cheaper to insure him as a "mixed breed" than as a "lurcher"!
