was hobblling yesterday as a recovery driver and had to pick one of those refrigerated vans up, it had been broken down for 9 hours, the driver said the freezer part couldn work without the engine running so all the frozen food in there including chickens would have defrosted.  When i got him back to his depot his boss told him to plug the container in to the electricity and to freeze it again and to redeliver it today!!! That doesn sound healthy to me at all so dont go buying chicken for the next week in the South Wales area
Phone the local council and ask for the environmental health officer and tell him what you ve just said

They'll follow it up from there

You dont need to give a name or tell how you know

But it gives them an indication of whos needing checking

If you have the reg number they know how to target the problem

The food would not necessarily defrosted if the door hadnt been opened and the original temperature was low enough in the first place

But its not good practice

Do you know I got some Bird's Eye food last year that has obviously been thawed and then re-frozen as it was all crystalised and the peas had got that dimpled look...do you know what i mean? I complained then too.

Haven't had a reply to my email yet

A mate of mine, who's a chef, does a bit of driving too,for a chicken firm, who supply the likes of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and so on.On one nights run,he could have closed down 4 out of 7 ,as they are dirty bugger's.4 of them didnt want the trouble of disposing of all the empty boxes,so they just tipped all the content's out on the floor, and threw the empty boxes back into the lorry.Apparently it's the done thing.Ive never eaten in a Kentucky's since.
