Why do some people not put dogs on leads :angry: , just come back from walking my three whippets after them being attacked by a staff bull not on a lead with the owner 30 yards away . It only let go of bob when I burried my size 9 in its ribcage only just got the all clear with him he's got bite marks to his bone on his legs so pissed off with idiots with this kind of breed not having them on leads . I'm a dog lover but I do hope I've done some permanant damage to the staff, craig

Have to say it would be the owner that could do with the permanent damage more than the other dog in my opinion, i so hate irresponsible dog owners, at the end of the day its owner at fault more than the dog, if owners were responsible we wouldn't have to harm another animal (but understand what you and i would do too to save our own )hope Bob's ok

i have experienced it at first hand when poor chloe was savaged a few year back by a staffi , they are becoming more popular around here were i live, why i don't know can't see the attraction in them myself.

So sorry to hear this Craig, know how you feel, we had one attack Perry a while back :rant: and the owner didnt even have a lead with him :angry: . Community officer right there in the park and she didnt do a thing. :rant: :rant:

it the owners fault craig,i had a right ding dong outside my house a few weeks ago,i come and put the dog in the house,and went back to have a word and the prick nicked off,,he said it wont hurt your dog,and called me a daft tw#t for picking my dog up,the cheeky get,haven't seen him since,the nobhead,,hope your dogs ok :thumbsup:

some people shouldnt be allowed pets of any kind i have three and i wouldnt let them off lead around other dogs because i dont know what those dogs might be like, and im damned if my dogs will be at risk of being put to sleep because they retaliate if attacked!

bit of advice for all of you should you be in a similar situation: get the collar, or use your lead if needs must, and choke the attacking animal until it starts to pass out. sounds nasty, but causes the least damage to your dog as well as to the one who has a grip because if you are kicking it or punching it, you are only inflaming it as well as potentially causing your own dog tears if the offender has a real grip. ive done it, ive hated it, but if it saves my baby i'll do it again x

Cheers everyone I know its not the dogs fault really but I'll do anything to protect mine. Mine was on leashes & I stood still when I saw the dog approach bare in mind one was a pup & bitch it beggers belief how some tits are with these dogs . If it happens again lelana I'll try that

It's true that the least able people seem to have the most dangerous dogs :angry: I wrote on here a while back about an imbecile who told me my dog should be on a lead because his dog (a staff) was dangerous. My whippet was not near his, but as if to prove a point, after admitting his dog was dangerous, he took its lead off, no doubt to scare us.

Another guy I met seemed terrified of his dog (another staff) - it kept nipping his knees and his 'control' of it consisted of him pulling his fist back as if to hit it.

What scares me more is when people get of their cars with pitbull types/ massive staffi crosses and then have a couple of toddling kids as well. It goes through me when we've all read the headlines. My whippet didn't even retaliate when my son accidentally fell on him - some staffs/ pitbulls only have to hear a kid laugh and they'll go for them You see these people with the dogs playing tug o war type games as the dog clings on like a maniac. Makes me shudder.

Having said this, the rule doesn't apply to English Bull Terriers and Bulldogs - all the ones I've met have been fantastic with my dogs, guess because they are not fashionable the idiots don't go after them...

where things go wrong is when you have a 'bad' owner who has a bull breed. you get them with any breed, i myself have lost count of how many labs, collies and little mutts ive come across where the owner has no control or even idea of how to control their animals, but with bull breeds its lethal to not have them trained and mindful of their owner because of how strong they are. my youngest child, was just under a year old when we got amber, and 3 and 4 when dante and purdey were born, and i can say hand on heart that when it comes to children, i do trust them 100%, no hesitation, but thats because im a forceful owner. they all know WHO is pack leader, and how low down they are, ie beneath the kids, and if they play up, they will be reprimanded. when it comes to other dogs, purdey is the only one who will flip, because she got attacked as a pup by a staff x who bolted out of nowhere, no flipping owner to be seen (yep, yet another fully paid up member of the idiot brigade) and since then has been a handful. but, she is always on a lead, i am always alert and outside the house, never had a problem. unfortunately in the house shes a bitch when shes in season when it comes to her mum, they need keeping apart 24/7, because she will start a fight, hence HOW i know what to do to get them away from each other with minimal fuss. believe me, until you know what its like to choke 2 staffs simultaniously, lift and separate by yourself, you have NO idea what exhaustion truly is, and i pray you never do

in return, what you get with staffords, is a loyal, playful, soppy animal that kids can jump on, pull on, fall over, a breed of only 2 recognised by the kc in its breed standard as being suitable with children. a dog that will die to protect you and the children. one who needs little in the way of grooming, a breed famous for its outstanding good health, and, awful as it may sound, one where locals will NOT burgle your house! oh yes, weve been told that to our FACE, that the only reason we havent been robbed is because theyre all too scared of our dogs to try! how charming is that?

is it worth it? yes, it is. im proud of my animals, and i love them as much as my actual children, and they return that love a thousandfold

same thing happened 2 my iggx whippet she got attaked by a bull mastiff x lab. ugly looking thing owned by a bunch of gypos nothing i could have done. she was in my arms when the bloody thing bit her butt. I screamed at it and i walked off. I wanted to kill the stupid thing but soon realised these dogs are only doing whats natural to them and it's in there blood. Again it's the owners who need a good old pound in! hope your dog recovers :luck: x

The staffie is it's own worst enemy, it attracts idiots who have no dog sense yet it is one of the most difficult dogs to own. Is it any wonder pounds across the country are overrun with them?

couldnt agree more think they need to clamp down on the non peds/ crosses for starters, because at least with the peds someone has paid a lot of money for them, and is far less likely to just mistreat and dump. the crosses however are 'disposable' and can be bought from £50 upwards, and therefore are accessable to the knuckle dragging thugs wanting a hard dog that they will twist to suit their idea, who will breed them until they sag for a quick buck then get rid :angry: breaks my heart, and it clogs up rescue needlessly

weve had 2 staffs staying with us last 2 weeks there my daughters and are lovely but wouldnt trust them outdoors in a feild where other dogs are. even though they are great at home like it has been said its some of the arsse holes who own them that give them a bad name hope bobs ok craig would of been angry too m8 i get into an argument most weeks with idiot owners of any breed but mainly staffs and its usualy ohhh dont worry they just want to play if its a woman i am sought of polite if its a bloke they get both barrels
