Thanks for posting Kris, you sometimes feel like you are fighting a losing battle.

I rip my hair out here sometimes, this is a "specialised breed"

NOT TO EVER BE ADVERTISED IN THE FREE ADS!!

Fortunately or UNFORTUNATELY depending how you want to look on it "Rescue" normally ends up mopping up afterwards :(

Just to give you all a bit of an insight as to who are actually selling this breed nowadays:

I actually rang up one of these "free ads" recently, played a bit stupid, said i knew nothing about the breed, could they please give me a bit of info on "broken legs & hereditary illness's if any in the breed"

Their reply:

" If you want information, buy a book, i'm just selling them "

Says it all really :(

unbelievable!i guess the after sales service is just as bad!

 Oh that's awful. How sad people could treat these little dogs like cashmachines... it breaks my heart :(

They are not the easiest of breeds & yes they have their problems.

You need to be 100% per cent honest with people from the start & make sure you are there 24-7 incase any accidents happen.

Even after vetting a home things can wrong BUT you cant just sell this breed willy nilly.

They are NOT just a miniature greyhound & if the only info you can offer is "Buy a book" DONT BREED!

it breaks mine too :'(

Unfortunately they have ended up in the wrong hands & with these people giving little or no info its catch 22

Thankfully MOST contact rescue & say they cant cope, however others cant cope so keep confined to a "box" & decide to "get their money back"

I dont need to elaborate, the cycle continues :(

thats terrible.poor little things.cant something be done about it? :(

How many times can rescue keep affording to cough up £650-900 to save just one when there are other breeding pairs on the premises that they are powerless to get out?

A lot are sold on 3rd or 4th home with broken legs which of course EVERYONE denies so that has to paid out for too, vets bills in excess of £££££

I do my best to try & steer clear now, its not easy :(

i understand rescue cant keep buying these pups, but theres more than one way to skin a cat! try enviromental health, trading standards, local council dog warden and breeders licence dept etc etc.if these folk realise the breed people arent going to make things easy for them then they might give up on the breed. ;) try the local council or even your local mp.they love to get their teeth into a case that will give them good publicity and what better than saving some cute photogenic little dogs?every politicians dream!(sorry to be so hard but sometimes you have to use what you can to get the results you want) o:) if rescue or anyone else keeps buying the pups theyll just keep breeding them

Kris, i know where you are coming from.

God i wish i could tell you!

Lets just say "one of the worst offenders" doesnt live in a house.

The conditions are far less than ideal & to get round KC rules litters bred under a year old & over 8 years old just aren't registered BUT sold nevertheless no questions asked & even tho been inspected many times because given food & water the powers that be wont do anything.

I best stop now before i get myself into seriously hot water, i really dont get involved in this now cos it just too upsetting & yes i just may just lynch someone!

We mop afterwards, its the best we can do :(

Trading standards sound like the only folks who could help.

This disgusts me. Poor little dogs that are so beautiful.
