i had a call from mel yesterday and they have ask me to post the following for them :(

weighing just 12.5lb, cassie came to me via the whippet rescue in 1997 age 5 and has been with me ever since.

a daughter of powerful paddy she had a heart of a lion and, although the strong winds at middle wallop air feild looked like they would blow her across the track, Cassie didn't care - she could be seen trialing with Rosie, an equally determined bedlington terrier (owned by sue hoddinott)

i always smile at the recollection of sitting in my old bedford camper with sue watching the racing at oxford; we saw a flash of white go past the window and realised it was Cassie! she had jumped over the camper half door and ran on the spectator side of the track behind the race going down at the time.

Cassie's hearing and sight did may have degenerated with her advanced years but she could always detect the nearest fry-up on a sunday morning at open racing and ate her food with gusto; right up untill her last supper on saturday, 13th december.

it's been a privilege and pleasure to have such a great little dog; Cassie has made a lasting impression on those who knew her, most of all Mel and I.

go with all our love

Sixteen and a half is a great age. What an innings. Doesn't make it any easier when they go though. What a great little dog.

Our sympathies to you Mel and Kim. We've just been there, so can understand how you are feeling. She may have been tiny, but will have left a huge hole in your family. RIP Cassie

Cassie was a little trooper and always reminded me of her a dad. I can just about remember her when Keith & Jane had her and we used to run against her brother, I'll Be Back. It seems a long time ago now and its so sad that she has gone but nice to hear that she stayed well right to the end. Our thoughts are with you.

RIP Cassie.

so sorry mel,kim will miss her pottering about at oxford in her little jumper :huggles:

Mel said that she was put to bed by kim in her snggle bed as usual and seemed fine in herself, infact she had been barking at Mel for her supper when the X-factor was on.... but when they woke on sunday morning she had passed in her sleep, what a lovely way to go :huggles:

i told mel we would all choose this for our dogs if we could, no vets, no illness, just slipped away in her sleep :huggles:

So sorry on youre loss of Cassie Mel and Kim , but what a peaceful way to go

So sorry Mel and Kim. What a lucky girl Cassie was to come to you at the very beginning. I'm sure she would not have changed anything about her life with you, or her passing, - in her own bed with those she loved close by.

Our thoughts are with you both. :huggles:

:( So sorry Mel & Kim to hear that Cassie has passed away, she will be missed greatly by us all. Love from the Morton gang :huggles:

So very sorry to hear your news :( RIP dear little Cassie x.Always remembered as a little girl with a huge heart and helper in our puppy trialing. Run Free

My condolences to you both - it's always a sad time no matter how they pass away, and I'm still not over Cassie's half-sister, Hattie going in Feb. Nearly a year and still I miss her.

May they both be chasing heavenly bunnies together :huggles:

What a wonderful little girl to have had for so long.

made in your lives :(

Sad news :(

We had only seen her a couple of times at Oxford in her little jumper, she looked very sweet.

Thoughts are with you, R.I.P
