Hi has anyone had aggression with you own dogs? How did you deal with it? I need help please.

You mean specifically aggression between dogs in your household? Or does it also extend to humans or outside the house? Are you able to identify triggers, and situations where this is likely to kick off?

I have had a dog that would be asleep and all of a sudden jump up and attack my other dog for no reason.

we took him to the vet. We got him as a rescue at 3 months old by this time he was 18 months old.

unfortunately after tests by the vets we found out he had a brain tumour

sorry don’t want to alarm you but please get them checked out by your vet first to ensure it is a behaviour / training issue and not due to something medical

Could you be more specific? I feed my two dogs separately and dont leave chews or things they consider valuable lying around.

The question is kind of broad and to help, we do need more specifics. what were the dogs doing before the aggression? what was the aggressive behavior? etc. age, breed (best guess is fine), sex all play into this as well.

aggression between to dogs living together happens. sometimes the root is medical, sometimes it is simply two dogs that can't get along, sometimes it is trainable or manageable, sometimes it is not.

But to advise you, we do need more information if you feel comfortable sharing.

Thank you for all the advice. They will actually fight, it is very scary.
Male and female, male is a 4 year old Westie female is a 3 year old Schnauzer cross. Tends to happen more when she is in sisson but has happened at other times. I have 8 dogs myself and my daughter lives with me and she has 3 dogs. The Westie is hers and Schnauzer is mine.

Again, we need to know more details about the triggers. What happened immediately before? Where were they, what other dogs or people were around, was there food? Watch their body language very carefully - can you spot minor signs of tension before it all kicks off? Who seems to start it? (Which might not actually be who does start it.) Do either of them show signs of fear?

This is the sort of thing where ideally you'd be able to replay a video from some time before the start of the aggression, going through frame by frame to catch every nuance - that's the sort of detail we need.

When you have got number of dogs in the same household and if they don't get on well enough, it is very important that all the dogs get enough exercise and other mental stimulation OUTSIDE of the house and then keeping the life inside as calm as possible for not to stir up the tension, particularly when you have terrier(s) and when they one of them gets 'hormonal'. It doesn't take much for dog's behaviour to 'over boil', even if they first seem to be fine. Keep any excitement/play very short sessions if they tend to do that in house, but as I already mentioned, it is better if the indoor life is kept for calm living only and allow all the exciting behaviour for outdoors only. Do they react indoors only or does it happen outside as well?
Remember....bored dogs will find themselves something 'to do'...and being reactive can be one of those things.

When you have a large pack of dogs spaying/nuetering is important otherwise natural hormones kick in each and every time and fights will happen or you keep them completely separated, as if any fight starts that will trigger pack mentality and you will have the pack join in and at least one dog dead

Additionally you need to deplete all their excess pent up energy with daily lead walking along with good quality obedience training as you need to be in control of any pack of dogs that live together, that way they are calm, tired and obedient in the house
