Have just spoken to owner.

This girl is just under two years old and has already had a litter of pups and is now expecting another.

This will be her second in two years. She has been mated to 'quite a big lad' collie x greyhound and is 3 weeks at least.

The owner is cuttting down on his dogs but she is a good worker and will get a better price 'in pup'. I did not know that fact :x

I live near Edinburgh. If anyone can collect from Liverpool and bring her as far North as Annandale services anytime this week or weekend (except Friday) I would be grateful of the help. If not, I will contact a courrier company tomorrow. My vet agrees that the best option is to terminate the litter in the best interests of the bitch and the unborn pups. There could be a lot of them and they could be pretty big. The sooner this is done the better.

Any transportation help available would be greatly appreciated.

oh poor little soul, so pretty, so young.

I wish her well in whatever outcome, sorry I can't help

Poor girl

Sounds like she has not had much of a life so far .

You are an angel Eve for trying to help her o:)

Poor little girl. Good luck with organising the transport Eve :luck: I'm sure she will be very grateful for your help. It is very generous of you to take her on

if she is 3 weeks in whelp does he actually know this for fact?ie has he had her scanned or does he 'think'she might be in whelp?hard facts are a scumbag like this might not have even mated the bitch but is out to get as much money for the dog as he can and if he says she 'might' be in whelp then he will get more money for her.id first of all find out if she is actually in whelp by asking him if shes been scanned and if not why not? all this panicking about an in whelp bitch might just be wishful thinking on his part?i can pick her up from liverpool for you but where would i pass her on and to whom?

Good on you for helping this little girl Eve  Its dreadful to think people even contemplate selling a bitch in pup

I hope it turns out that she is not pregnant after all....

If someone can pick her up from the current owner Eve (cos I'll be inclined to cause murder) I'm willing to take her to Annandale Services over the weekend if that suits.

Many thanks to those who have offered help with transport. She will be here on Wed evening late. I am having her brought up by courrier. The logistics of putting everyone to a lot of trouble were a nightmare. The courrier chap sounds lovely and the quicker I get her here, the quicker I can get her sorted out. Owner sounds nice to talk to but he is in it for the money ABSOLUTELY no doubt. Bought her off a friend for working after her last litter. He says that he has had her with the dog 3 times tied and they were together for a night as well. Not keen on reducing price because her puppies will be good sellers!

Advice on experience of injections vs immediate speying much appreciated. My vet favours injections but I am not so sure.

There's advantages and disadvantages with both Eve, it'll depend how far gone she is and I wouldn't take the owners word as gospel. Just play it by ear, your vet will know what's for the best.

Well done Eve for helping this girlie :huggles:

Oh my dear god, whatever is wrong with people that can do that?? Bless you for helping her. The flipping RSPCA should be sorting people like him out. Poor girl.

Eve you are an absolute STAR for all you are doing for this little girl  hope all goes well on wednesday x

Eve as I said elsewhere it is not uncommon for a bitch in whelp to be sold on, as you've discovered it's considered by some to be a means to making money. Others will sell a bitch in whelp if they know or discover that the whelp is likely to be complicated/expensive, when the bitch has received a past injury to her pelvis for example. Some of course will just pretend a bitch is in whelp as she can command a higher price that way. And I have been told of a new scam recently ... a bitch is sold on in whelp but the new owner is not told that that is the case, when it becomes apparent that there will be pups the new owner contacts the old one who denies all knowledge but offers to help out ... they have friends who will take puppies. When the scam works (hard to believe folk are that gullible but I'm told they are) the old owner actually sells those pups on and every penny is profit as the whelping costs etc. have been met by the new owner. Sick world we live in isn't it.

Hopefully though this little bitch will now have the future she deserves :D

Good Luck in helping this poor girl Eve. It is beyond belief how anyone could sell a pregnant bitch on  Some people make you sick. Hopefully all will go well for her :luck: :luck:

I'm so glad you managed to get through and arrange to take her. I tried to call myself after seeing the advert because I felt so sorry for her but couldn't get through. I was very relieved when I saw this thread it's good to know she's safe.

Don't have the jab, I have heard of so many bitches suffering afterwards, bleeding and all sorts and ending up being speyed. Make sure she is actually in whelp, at three weeks after a mating it is difficult to tell. She may not be in whelp!!!! Get her speyed if she is, please don't get her jabbed.

Dear God!!! There is just one scam after another when you read about things like this!! Sadly though it is a fact of life, there are people who will stop at nothing to make money. I know nothing about the pros/cons about injection vs spaying but, ultimately (and as somebody relatively inexperienced in this field so it's only a question rather than an opinion) if she is best to not continue with the pregnancy (if there is one, as I read it even that could be questionable because of unscrupulous owners) then surely it would be better just to go for the spaying, thus terminating an early pregnancy if she is to end up being spayed in any case? As I say, I have limited experience of breeding/bitches etc but that would seem to me the best way forward?

Wow - you've managed to get a lot sorted out in a short space of time  Roll on Wednesday evening when this little girl can start settling into her new home and new life :luck: :luck: :luck:

Good luck with your new girl, Eve :luck:

I believe speying is the best option - hormone injections can cause more problems than benefits.
