Hi i am new to this forum, although i did come on early last year for some advise when i got my greyhound regarding settling in with cats , which she has done successfully, I am very proud of her as she is a lovely dog.

Was wondering if anyone on here shows there dog and can offer any advise, and local shows to go to?

I am from Manchester area. ;)

Are you looking at showing her at KC shpws or companion shows?

I show my ex racer at open and champ shows but you have to have them registered with the KC first which is quite easy if you have her paperwork from when she was racing

Thanks for reply dont really know, which shows as i havent looked into it much yet, havent got her papers, would have to get in touch with greyhound rescue or trust, probably just companion shows to start as dont know how she will do, so any help much appreciated.

For companion shows you don't need to do anything just turn up on the day and enter. Use her pet name it depends on the classes they have but in the pedigree classes she can go in the sporting class or the hound class if they have one and the open class. She can also go in any of the fun classes that she is elligible to go into.

Is there any web sites i can go on to find out about local shows that you know of, thanks for your he;p.

Hi

If you check your local Retired Greyhound Trust website you should find details of local fun/ companion dog shows. I volunteer with Merseyside RGT which is just between Widnes and St Helens, and they have got a couple of shows lined up for this year. They also run a 'greyhound playgroup' by hiring an indoor riding arena for an hour so the dogs can have fun off lead. Might be close enough to you to make it worthwhile, depending on which side of Manchester you are :)) Merseyside RGT

Hello

Greyhounds in need have a few shows in the summer, but I warn you the competition is tough as I take my Marlene!!!!! see picture below.

If you keep an eye on this link, they add the shows on as and when arranged, could be a good chance to see if your girl likes showing

Hopefully see you in the summer

Greyhound Gap (based Stoke on Trent area) have an annual dog show - in fact the last couple of years they've had two shows, one in May and one in September.

I haven't seen dates for this year yet, but you could keep an eye on their website
