What are five g.'s in today's money?  You can give it to me in quid--I'll do the conversion.
But it seems really really cheap.

A stud fee in the 1960's for a US dog would be $150-200---or about 120 quid. Or so.

I would imagine that 5.g.s would be more than an ordinary weekly wage.

I believe that about 5.g.s was a low wage when Australia changed to dollars, in late 60s.

Just a question. Was Peggy Stancome of Tinribs become Peggy Newcome late of the USA? She was mentioned in the ad as a judge for an open show.

Can't help for sure on that one Jon, but possibly not. I do have a (1953) Tinribs ad for Tinribs Boleny Safe and Sound - owned by Mrs H M Stancombe, Angmering-on-Sea Sussex

And a 1956 ad for Pennyworth - Newtington, New Hampshire USA. Avalonia is bound to know

I also have this ad :)

Peggy Newcombe was a native-born American. We did have one of our breeder-judges move over to the UK for awhile, and then back to the US--that was Badgewood Kennel and Mrs. Philip S.P. Fell. She bred at least one champion in the UK.

I'm doing a pedigree database at the moment, and it includes Badgewood Brambling who is by B. Bullfinch (U.S.A. ) x B. Sewickley (U.K CH. )

What a wonderful collection, you lucky thing!

I read it to mean that keepsakes Father had been exported to Australia

But dont forget YOU always get a discount ( for such a `little thing` how could I charge the full rate  ;) ? )
JAX took home a guinea from last Friday night on the town hall steps.

When asked who'd paid the odd shilling she looked askance and said 'Eveyone'

The text read:

Iniskheltr Keepsake, a son of the famous Ch. Playmate of Allways, now in Australia ex the Kennels lovely home-bred Iniskheltr Almond Blossom, a blue fawn dog height 18 1/2 inches Stud fee 5gns

Ah you are right, Playmate of Allways did come to Australia. I just read it the wrong way around. Put it down to the old style of grammer

Doing it in the Local Hall is not a problem. :) But on stage at The Great Hall Of London, with seating for so many is another thing altogether. :- "

I bought a collection of old whippet/magazine advertisement dated between 1943 and 1976.  This was one of the ad's (1964).  I am curious about mention of Keepsake being exported to Australia.

I'm just checking Kylie Rowe's book "Australian Imports" produced in 2004 for the Whippet Congress & I see that it's not Inneskelltr Keepsake who was imported to Australia but his sire, Int. Ch. Playmate of Allways who came out in 1960 possibly with Rebecca of Allways. There is a comma in the wrong place in the ad. & it changes the information completely.

It also says in this book that a grandson of Playmate & a son of Rebecca - Ch. Zipity Wonderland was BOB at Sydney Royal in 1972 & BOB at the Whippet Specialty of NSW in both 1972 & 1976.

It also says a grand-daughter of Playmate was one of the foundation bitches for one of our best known kennels - Moonwind - Marilyn Hoy, so his descendants are still winning in the ring today.
