Starry ripped her dew claw tonight,

so oh took her to the vet (out of hours)

shes fine not to sure what they did as its wrapped up for now, but shes ok,

my question is, shes insured, and the vet bill was £102

our excess is £70 so we would be claiming for £32

is it worth it to claim? would next years premium go up? would it go up by alot?

we are with More than and this would be our first claim.

any advice welcome

thanks

hiya Katie

with working in the insurance industry i would advise you to phone the company you are insured with and enquire with them directly. They are the only ones truly able to advise you what effect making a claim will have on your policy.

I'd wait for a bit as you may be charged more for changing dressings/ antibiotics/ further treatment which will make it worth your while putting in one claim for all of it. When Grover had his op to remove his cyst they put the original consultation fee in with the op fee (they were on different days) as one claim. Hang fire for a few days. We are with more than and the total cost was 175 quid or thereabouts so we got 105 quid back after the excess was deducted. I hadn't thought about the policy going up

Hope Star is feeling ok!

With most policys you can obtain the claim form, hold on to it and then see if any further treatment is needed. If not then you can make your decision either way. If there is further treatment you are covered as you already have your claim form.

I think it varies from company to company on premium increase due to claim. I am insured with NFU and had a £3000 claim for Albus during 2008. When we renewed in April 2009 I was expecting quite an increase in premium or have my policy cancelled as NFU do not have exclusions on their policies. It remained the same and they have re-insured us. I was very surprised.

Thanks for bringing this up as I have just remembered I have not cancelled Albus' policy.
