Hi everyone,
There is no question that this has been a rather difficult past month for me due to a severe injury to one of my favorite dogs, but there have been a few bright spots. Some of the brightest have been the outstanding show wins I've had with "Pigale", Diablesse Say Surrey Hill, bred by me and Leila Anchini (who is from France), and owned by Leila. Leila is an amazing trainer and anyone can take her dogs and go show them, and they respond just beautifully and know exactly what to do. It took us a few shows and some reserves and high placements for me to know how best to present him, but once I felt we had it both nailed, he gave me some real exciting wins and a great deal of pleasure and pride as a breeder to have a dog who showed so beautifully for me and made me look like a pro out there.
Pigale is sired by Aust.Am.Ch. Byerley Savile Row, who is by an English Import, Ch. Khabaray Hugo Boss (Ch. Fawnbree Special Brew at Dumbriton x Hillsdown Aisling). Pigale's dam is a granddaughter of Int. Ch. Paris Panther, an influential import sire in Europe.. With the Aussie and American lines filling out the rest, it is truly an international pedigree.
This is the first major I put on him (his 2nd major), under Australian judge, Derek Hyde:
And this is a Group III from the Philadelphia Bench Show weekend. The judge, Carol Esterkin, was unavailable, and I looked like someone who dashed five blocks through the drizzle to make our ringtime, which is why you only see the dog. I was very VERY proud of this group placement. The winner of the group went on to BIS and the 2nd in Group won the Group 2 days later at the National Dog Show. 4th in the Group behind us placed at the National Dog Show, too. Leila said she had to fight the WORST traffic for hours to get home, but that whenever she felt upset, she just looked at her lovely Group III rosette.

And then this was the icing on the cupcake--5 points at the American Whippet Club Supported Entry in Springfield, Mass, under Thomas Munch of the famous FlicFlac Kennel in Germany. Not the BEST photo of Pigale and certainly horrid of me, but there's no such thing as a bad photo of an AWC Supported Entry 5 point major, I always say. Two days later, Leila put 2 more points on him up there, herself. It's SO much fun to win with Leila watching. She just goes nuts.
Thank you for letting me share and brag on this GOOD boy. It may be that Pigale will go home with Leila this summer to be shown in France, and so some of you in Europe might get to see him.
Pigale needs just one more point to be an American Show Champion. He is also very close to his AKC and ASFA lure coursing titles and has earned his first points in straight racing, as well, in October.
