Is getting a little tracking device a good idea?

Hi all,
I have been lurking a while, and after a lot of research, my family chose to get a beautiful male black lab. We love him already, but he has shown the ability to be quite adventurous which has me a bit worried.
I am leaning towards getting one of these little devices that isn't as expensive as some of the older ones that I have seen, so I am not as paranoid http://newsdailynow.com/2015/11/16/pet-tracking/ . That little device is about the size of a small coin so it doesn't seem like it should bother him much. As a pet owner, I can't see why it wouldn't be a good idea to use one.

Does anyone think wearing one could cause any problems?

-thanks in advance for your response!

Looks good but have not heard of anyone using one.

Do keep working on a good recall. Use high value food rewards that are given as soon as he returns to you. Do not ask for a sit or any other position first. Just feed him several (up to five depending how difficult it was for him) treats one after the other. Dry biscuits may not be enough so use chicken or sausage or liver etc.

Once recall is very reliable you can just give the treats for really difficult recalls like ones away from other dogs etc.
