just heard rumours that fed hav got new traps and been made bigger to accomadate certain dogs at the champs so 99.9999999percent of races have to change there boards for 0.1percent of racer the whippy traps have been that size for about 60 years why change now

id heard today at easington that the federation at got new traps, and they had been made a lot bigger.If this is true what was the reason as i said i only heard off a friend and hed heard it from a friend of a friend so it right or is it hearsay

Lets stop this before it gets out of hand especially as the topic has come from Jane who ever you are.

The new traps are slightly bigger than the traps the fed currently used at swallowsnest recent events.

One trap was viewed by some of the nnwrf committee and a decision was made to have a full set made.... so Jane do you have a problem with having new traps made at no cost to you or any of our members...certain nnwrf committee members and sponsors have put there hands in there own pockets to pay for these, the new traps have nothing to do with (99.9 percent of races and 0.1 percent), the size of the new traps are whats available for sale at the time of buying.

The New nwrf put in for its members not take out, if you are so concerned add your full identity to your post.

any chance of dimension,so we can make a suitable board. are they like the others wheels on rear,making them not quiet level ?????

only trouble with larger traps it gives the smaller dogs a chance to turn in the traps

Racing to be out of standard sized whippet traps!!!!!!

Could anyone say what a standard size whippet trap is as most traps at clubs differ in size.

Of course someone could always have the same size traps made and given to every club to use, but then again would all members be happy! doubt it.

Well done to the Fed and their sponsors in trying to get the best and new equipment for us all to use. :cheers: :luck:

David if all well the size of the traps will be advertised in plenty of time in whippet news & on k9 yes they are level ... They are similar size in width as coxlodges

Like John Meades says these days most clubs traps are different anyway, i can't see the problem. We should be opening racing up to more dogs and not trying to exclude anyone.

Sounds like Calamity Jane to me,why stir the crap when all most want are safe size boxes to run out of. Having raced N.G.R.C. from Brough (sorry Newcastle) to Wathamstow there isnt a STANDARD TRAP. just be grateful people are doing things to help. LES WINDLE. :rant:

to answer your silly comments however worthless they may be 60 years ago whippets were whippets by that I mean pedigree whippets they were also slipped

the N.W.R.F. was formed to cater for the bigger dogs and their original traps were slightly bigger than what some class as a standard trap

The N.N.W.R.F. will carry on the tradition of the origional N.W.R.F. and make improvements deemed neccessary to make racing safer, fairer and enjoyable for all members.
