I woke up this morning - it is a great day !!!!!
since it is late fall the sun comes up late
and I get to watch it from the first faint glow in the eastern sky
to the dark blue to bright yellow it is now - the shadows are
really dark so it promises to be deep blue skys and bright sunshine
so it should warm up quickly today - there is a touch of frost
(our first for this fall) on the truck windshield - since we have
had about 3 days of cold mornings the trees, all of a sudden,
decided to start turning color - bright yellows on the hickory's,
the scrub oaks a redish brown - the white oaks yellow and red -
accented by the sumac's and virginia creeper's vivid reds -
all too soon those wild and beautiful colors will be all on the ground
and the bare tree skeletons will be a daily reminder that the winter
is upon us - tis the cycle - we are born - we flurish or not - we die -
we are born again come spring for we all are part of the great
scheme of what we call nature - tis the nature of all things great and
small -
Paula and I will be wondering around the Arabian horse show
today with one or more of our dogs for company - the Chamber
of Commerce and the Fair Board tell us its the largest in the world
but we all know there are probably the same claims made for
others - even so there are probably 1000 or more horses here
for the show - beautiful animals anyway - hopefully we will find
the vendor (amoung 100's) that makes and sells the great waterproof
quilted dog coats that we like - we need several since we seem to
keep adding to the numbers of the pack by two's -
Saturday mornings have turned into "slow starts" for us - the dogs
still get me up at the same time as the week days but Paula
gets to sleep in and I do try to keep things relatively civilized
until she does get up - hard to do to get them all in and out and fed
with two rowdy pups in the mix of things - they have such boundless
energy after a nights sleep - keep things stirred up very well for
an hour or two - now that I have gotten my 5th or 6th cup of coffee
down and am getting ready to become active they are sound asleep
on the couch -
there seems to be one or two more cups of coffee in the pot and
it seems to be calling me I think that I will go have another and
take a walk in the crisp air to do my "walk around" the place to
see if anything is pressing to be done right now -
