... from Book Group, and nearly tripped over Jasper as he's sprawled out in the hallway. Did he leap up to welcome me home? No. Did his tail beat the floor with pleasure? No. Did he look at me? No. His eye may have swivelled slightly, but not in my direction in particular. I called out to OH to ask if he was actually dead....

Is anyone else's dog as undemonstrative? He's still not moved......

Nah. We have the opposite. I cannot remember the cartoon character who did this but we have terrier on springs on steroids. I sort of want to make a comment about harnessing his energy but we just finished watching Chernobyl last night, so I won't. And if anyone hasn't seen that, it was one of the most dramatic pieces of tv I have seen in a long time.

Murphy and George are just not that laid back, as I come home they charge at the door barking ( bad behaviour I know) and unsure if they should welcome me home as the lost cub or savage me for leaving them alone with Basil and dad all afternoon..
Benny used to be very laid back he only got off the chair he was sleeping on if I came home with shopping and he thought there was a chance of a treat or that he might be able to steal something.

When I get home all of my 5 go mad each getting a toy and flying out of the door ...I can be gone for 2 hrs and you would think I had been gone 2 days
They don't worry about hubby coming back

He does come to say hello if he's been left on his own, and sometimes will be a bit whingy if I go out and leave him with OH, but last night he was completely flat out! I was reminded of this greyhound... Roomba Vs Greyhound : funny

Harri is so laid back I'm not sure he'd even open an eye! It would be nice sometimes to have the rapturous greetings other dog owners take for granted but it isn't his style at all!

When I come home after work, I take off everything that can get damaged or stolen (watch, glasses...) in the car, before entering the house.
Then i walk in and survive the hurricane of love by Baby Miles (soon to be 9 m.o. and 90 lbs/40+kg).
Then I go back out and retrieve all the items I left in the car.

I’d say this is work in progress, as far as good manners...

My sister’s Welsh Terrier was exactly the same. Very laid back and rarely acknowledged anyone’s arrival at the house. However, when you were out with him, he would greet anyone who stopped to make a fuss of him like a long-lost friend!

Yes that is Harri to a T! Any stranger who stops to say hello is his BFF. It makes him an excellent therapy dog though.
