Addi(our dog) has problems when around other dogs, when dogs run up to him or are in close proximity of him addi proceeds to bark relentlessly and attempts to attack other dogs. Addi is perfect with people, friendly and a loving pet. In the past he was locked in a on suite and as a result of this he hasn't been socialised with other dogs, I believe this is the cause but we need to find the solution to the behavirable problem.

Hello and welcome to Dog Forum!

Again - I think you need to take him to a dog behaviourist to help him.

seeking professional help is a must as you may compound the issue if you try to rehabilitate him yourself without knowledgeable people in this area, socialising in a controlled environment is a must as fear aggression is something terrible for the dog to have to live with and as the owner very frustrating as it can exclude you from all the great things owning a dog can bring .

do look for a behaviourist rather than a trainer

If anybody mentions alpha dogs or rolling your dog, walk away. This sounds far more like fear aggression than dominance aggression, so you could make things far worse if you set off on the wrong path

One person particularly good with assorted aggression problems is John Rogerson. It might be worth giving him a ring

Sounds like lack of socialising skills for the poor boy. I would keep it on a lead in public and carry a walking stick while walking.........this can be used for putting a safe distance between your (legally on a lead under control dog) and those which are allowed to run indiscriminately up to yours by irrespnosible dog owners. Good luck getting him sorted. Sounds like you both need to attend a good dog training club for guidance on socialisation. Let us know how you get on.

My rescue dog was like this for a while and I realised that my anxiety at seeing another dog approaching was adding to the dogs stress, my dog had been bullied by others whilst in the pound I took him to a good understanding training school that was focused on dog behaviour now he is great well behaved dogs unless dogs not on leads get to up close and personal

Good luck
