I think a kids section would be fine and there's plenty of mods on throughout the day to regulate it as it is.

As for a chatroom I think it's safer all round for kids to use MSN messenger. The reason being is parents can be selective as to who their child can have in their contacts list. For example, say Alex made some friends at a racing event, the chances are Wendy will have met their parents etc and they could be added to Alex's contact list. At least that way the parents are effectively being the 'moderators' to their kids.

I think to change the K9 chatroom and all the functions required to give 'moderator' time to parents, block everyone else who they don't know from speaking to their child etc would be expensive, and I'm sure it's costly enough as it is.

I think at the end of the day each perant should moderat there child. I know alexs passwored and we are allways about when shes on line we dont allwe internet in there bedrooms and we do have the added things that our computers have a perental gaured on that allowes us to check whats been typed we have the added thing that i can track one computer from the other aswell. good look with what evers decieded. Think all the perants have to help out of there is one.

why not just have a kids section on the main listing so they have there kids chit chat and a general dog discussion that way they can list things there interested in and a few moderators to make sure that there is nothing there that shouldnt be there that way eveyone might be happy?

I think thats a good idea as its no more risky than using K9 as they are at present. You would probally just need to make sure there are always moderators checking the kids section and to have there details fixed so they can be contacted incase there are any problems or concerns.

Our children only go on -line supervised. The main pc is in living room so we are always around.Perhaps we could all supervise our own children and those parents whose kids are on here regular can swop mobile etc and report back to each other. When im here and Paris aka PINKY P is posting I WATCH whats been said anyway.

im sure us parents would be happy to share moderating duties to keep the kids safe? maybe do a rota system? im up for it? also strict joining reg would also prevent unwanted attention, such as only members kids allowed or for new members an approval system? or recommendation from k9 members? just a few ideas?

Count me in...

Aimee (aka Lurchers Rule) loves coming on here but I'm always stood nearby watching...

I'm happy for some sort of system to be set up so we keep them safe.
