 Could someone please explain to me about Junior Warrant? Being new to the showing idea I am a little confused about how you go about this. I notice on Schedules that some dogs have the JW after their names, but how do you get this? I guess it is on a point system, but how many and do you get them?I guess it is depended on placings in Open and Champ shows but what placings equal how many points?

Would appreciate someone letting me know and I apologise before hand in case this is something which is general knowledge but I just haven't found it out yet, and figured the best way was to ask.

Thanx

Thyme

Hi

Yes it works on a points system you have to gain 25 points before your dog reaches 18months old. You gain points at open and championship shows by wins ie if you were to win your class you normally receive 3 tto 5 points depending on how many other dogs were in your class there are also other points awarded for bob bp bis and rbis but you would need to check these out. Points are not usually awarded at limit shows. You can get a junior warrent claims form from the kennel club. You will need to keep track of your dogs wins and at which show and which judges your dog won under. Im not sure but it used to be that if you won you had to get the judge to sign the form, but i dont know if they still do it this way. Good luck with your junior warrant

 Thanks for the info, I will check the sites out and go from there.

:D

note that the onus is on you to record your dog's wins

the same holds for the show certificate of merit

A friend of mine was recently advised by a judge at an open show in the Republic of Ireland that she should have her JW record card with her for signing. She knew nothing about this. Now I am wondering if wins at shows under IKC rules can also count towards the Junior Warrant and/or Show Certificate of Merit - or if the IKC now has a corresponding award system? (or maybe the judge just forgot which state the show was in?)

Sorry but all this section is completely wrong. oops

Only 1 point at Open shows and 3 points at Championship shows can be gained , per class , and there must be at least 3 dogs attending the class , BOB counts for one point should you not gain any points in the breed classes , eg only 2 dogs in class but get BOB , points to be gained from 6-18 months . NO points for best puppy, best in show Etc

No signatures are required and only for the Show Certificate of Merit do you need to name the judge .

You are best getting the relevant form from the KC

jackie

Sounds easy dosnt it , good luck :p
