I have a great kennel I can highly recommend down here in Dorset, but that's probably way too far for you

out of interest what kennel would that be as im from poole dorset

Hey Tony - I'm in Poole as well.

WestBurton kennels in Wool. As I said my sitter had a family emergency out of the country the week before we were scheduled to leave, and after calling a few whippet people this was recommended (she had actually worked there). The 2 girls did great, and in the times I've left them since I've never had them lose even an ounce of weight (I always bring them to the vets immediately after for a weight just to be sure they don't need a bit of extra bulking up). This means they're happy or they wouldn't be eating, and it means they're eating the extra food fed them.

It's a toss up - would they be happier with a sitter at home - absolutey! BUT the risks of them escaping from a non-whippet savvy person are high, and what if something happened to them? I would feel sooooo bad for the guilt that sitter would feel that something happened under his/her watch! (not to mention my personal loss)

So they're SAFE at the kennels, and they love the kennel workers. Chelsea practically knocked over one of the guys she hadn't seen in over a year when she got out of the car last time.

It's swings and roundabouts really, BUT if you're lucky to find a good one - hang on to it and recommend it.

Website for Westburton is: http://www.westburtonkennels.co.uk/

They also offer a free afternoon and a free overnight in the off-season to help your dog adjust to the idea.
